Estrogen-induced "cycles"

Because I had my hysterectomy after menopause and kept my ovaries, they told me I wouldn't have hormonal problems, but I had horrible insomnia anyway until I got estrogen.

So now I'm on 2 mg estradiol every day and every four weeks or so, I seem to get PMS--bloating and that irritable feeling like my nerves are itchy. I swear that if I had a uterus, I'd have a period. Is it normal for estrogen to trigger some kind of hormonal cycling or am I just imagining this in my muddled post-menopausal brain?

Even after menopause the ovaries produce hormones, so having cycling symptoms would be possible. Hopefully members will respond to share their experiences. I'm sure you're not alone!
