Just curious how many staples does the average person get with a TAH?

Thanks,

I had 29!

I had 29. Mine was a vertical incision. It varies from person to person. It also makes a difference if it is horizontal or vertical.

I had 21...vertical incision...it had been used for 3 C-sections. I thought I should have had a zipper put in. LOL

Hi Deby, I had 14 in a horizontal incision. They came out in exactly one week. Really, they didn't bother me any.

and the grand total iiiisssss

Gosh was I surprised, I have a "bikini cut" (horizontal low) and I have 22 staples. All stitches are internal so no idea.
Incision is about 10 inches long.
Thank goodness those critters are comin out tomorrow, cos after a few days home and healin gets under way, they seem to tug and hurt more than help.
OOhhh...one other suprise, didnt realize they'd staple my tummy skin to my pubic skin....I thought they boo-boo'ed when I first saw it!

how many staples?

I had a horiz incision and only had 12 staples. He made a new incision instead of going through the same one from my 2 c-sec and one other surg. I asked him why he did that at my 2 week check up and he said if he went through the old scar he would have had to make a longer incision so I guess I am glad he did except for the fact I have 2 ugly scars an inch apart now. Oh well...

How many staples?

Hi Deby....

I've had 4 C-sections and had anywhere from 14-22 staples. Just had a TAH on Jan. 9th and had NO STAPLES. My Dr. cleaned up some scare tissue and didn't use staples this time....he said I would now had a "nice Pretty scare". It sure beats the staples.
