Severe Pelvic Pain and Nausea - Post Op Week 4

Hi Everyone

My surgery was 27 April 2012. Naturally, the first week was pretty rough. Post-op week 2 was easier, as well as going into week 3. I always had pelvic pain when I used the bathroom, which started to tapper off, but beginning Wednesday last week, the pain has become severe and the nausea is increasing. Before running down to the hospital, I wanted to see if anyone had similar issues.

Thank you!

Hi usafcandy..I don't really have any experience with pelvic pain and it could be a few things BUT if you are saying the pain is severe, then I would go get it checked out. Severe pain is not normal. I hope you feel better soon and let us know...Laura

Re: Severe Pelvic Pain and Nausea - Post Op Week 4

Hi usafcandy - I had my TAH on May 3rd. I am not sure what part of your pelvis the severe pain is in but I had a urine infection which caused pain very low down just above the pubic bone, hot shooting pains most of time getting worse when my bladder was full or before a BM. I also felt sick and dizzy. It took 2 lots of anti biotics to clear it. Have you been checking your temperature ? A raised temp is often a sign of an infection of some sort (urine or otherwise). Definitely get it checked out. Good luck and hope you feel better soon.

Thanks! That's exactly what I've been experiencing. Guess I'll make my way to the hospital!
Thank you!

UPDATE

The urinalysis came back clear. My doctor was out today but have an appointment with her tomorrow. She pulled weekend duty at the hospital and was able to talk to her on the phone; her thinking was along the lines of yours and scheduled the lab test and left word for the triage nurse to give me the results.

I have to say, I'm not a little concerned. Will update tomorrow after I see my doc.
