Talking - TVH/Laparoscopy TVH/Laparoscopy

Hi. I am 32 years old and the mother of 4 wonderful boys ages 14, 8, 6, and 3. I have always suffered from horrific periods (pain and bleeding). After my last child I had the Mirena IUD. About 8 weeks ago my IUD perforated my uterus and I was in terrible pain and could not move. They had to traumatically remove it. I went to the doctor after all that and was talking about option of birth control and period control. He said the best option for me was a vaginal hysterectomy. I agreed. I have all the children I want and I am over being confined to bed for a week every month. I had my surgery on May 14, 2012. It was supposed to be a vaginal hysterectomy, but they ended up taking my right tube due to damage. I also had significant bleeding and they closed up and went in laparoscopically to cauterize to stop the bleeding. Surgery took over 2-1/2 hours due to all of this. My stay in the hospital was WONDERFUL! All the nurses and staff I had were AWESOME and CARING. The recovery has been a bit tough at times as I am still a mom and that comes first, but I have wonderful family and friends that have helped me out this first week. I go back to work tomorrow night. (I know it is a bit early, but I work from home as a medical transcriptionist, so I do not have to leave and I sit all shift; I am only going back half nights to start.) My pain has been controlled with the use of Lortab and Motrin 800 mg; I have not had any Lortab today though as I am trying to wean off before going back to work tomorrow. I have been up and walking around and doing small things, but get very tired easily. I have had trouble eating as my stomach seems to have shrunk during all of this, LOL. I am feeling so good right now, but have to keep reminding myself that I just had major surgery and not to over do it right now. That is my story!
