Winded, Yet Not Tired, But Moving Very Slow

Hi,

I had abdomenal, Supra Hysterectomy, both ovaries left on Thurs. May 17, 2012 at Lenox Hill Hospital in NYC.

I was discharged Sat, May 19. Initially, I felt very bloated, weak, a tad bit tender. It didn't help that we walked 10 blocks to the pharmacy as it was impossible to find an empty cab.

My primary question is, I noticed, everytime I've laid down - after light movement - and called a friend or relative, I Sound winded.., BUT do not Feel winded.

How is this possibile? Or does anyone know why this odd phenomenon is happening?

But today, Sunday May 20 TH, I feel wonderful.

I'm no longer bloated, am feel gas free & feel no pain. Just a hint of tenderness when my cat leap on my stomach, buy even that was very minor.

I'm highly athletic and my 6 pack was still evident immediately after surgery.

But today, not only does my stomach appear normal, flat, but also the unnatural bloated feeling feels completely gone along with the odd feelings of moving gas.

No BM yet, but I'm not worried.

I've been on a Joan Collins type housework regime as its impossible for me to lay in bed all day.

It's only light dusting and walking around a fairly large apt., but no stairs or multi level issues.

So, to sound so winded, without Feeling winded seems odd.

In the hospital I barely left the bed. Being on a morphine drip for 24 hrs made me lethargic & I had no trouble passing gas in bed.

I basically, just shuffled to the bathroom and back to Fri & Sat in the Hospital.

So, I don't remember any breathing issues as I was more weak than breathless.

Is it that perhaps that, even though I feel "good", my body is still recovering from surgery and may indeed be over worked from the dusting, though I did not lift anything?

Or, is it just a seperate breathing, respiratory issue?

Thanks for any info.

This is just a guess but maybe you are sounding hoarse from the breathing tube and they are just using the wrong word to describe it. I do know that I did get winded after surgery but I could tell it my self. If it is worrying you I could call the doctor and ask them.

Re: Winded, Yet Not Tired, But Moving Very Slow

Thank you, its not hoarseness as I was that immediately after surgery and was given throat pills immediately after for 2 days and it went away.

It's winded as if I ran a good sprint, but I don't feel tired. It happens after the barest of activities, last 30 mins and goes away.

My surgeon calls daily & if it still is happening tomorrow I will ask him.

It's odd to be out of breath, yet not feel physically winded.

Especially, when Um just basically puttering around.

I wonder if it's because you had stuff pushed around and it's causing your lungs not to fill completely as if pressed against....I'm not a doctor, just pretending to be...haha.

Wow, 10 blocks right after your surgery. I was barely able to walk 10 yards without needing to lay down and sleep for a couple hours.

Even though you are feeling "great" please take it easy. Your body just went through a tremendous change with your surgery. It needs to heal and it doesn't happen over night. Be careful with your activities.

Re: Winded, Yet Not Tired, But Moving Very Slow

Thank you for the info, it sounds very possible and thank you for the advice.

I'm 43, but seem to have superficial signs of a speedy recovery. My stomache is no longer bloated, it was still slightly bloated Sat.

It's completely flat and my 6 pack is there. I feel no pain, though the cat landed directly on my adomen again.

I'm still wearing the abdomen synch, girdle, to be safe, but all the odd feeling gas & bloat seem gone.

I will not try to lift anything, though I did move the stove to clean behind it, but made sure to gently only use quad muscles.

Im starting to think it could be the oven cleaner fumes combined with compromised lungs as the breathlessnesd has completely gone away..,

And I'm still puttering around.

This forum is a lifesaver and thank you for all responses.
