Re: Nervous
Hello
Firstly I'm new too but have found this forum to be hugely comforting.
I had my hysterectomy & removal of cervix, fallopian tubes, and both ovaries exactly three weeks ago today. Although it was my womb that was most 'at fault' that eventually made the decision about hysterectomy or not, I too have PCOS and all it's ghastly side effects.
The Surgeon left it up to me as to whether or not to leave the ovaries in although did recommend that I had them out. I decided that I would remove everything to avoid any complications later. There is a lot of cancer in the family and I felt it was easier to have one big operation and get it all over and done with that discovering I had to have another later down the line.
We couldn't have children and at 42 getting shot of the pain, discomfort, anaemia & etc it was the obvious way to go.
Not sure that this is any help only I have had a good experience to date and don't regret my decision even though it means I now have to be on HRT for the next 8 years. I am in the UK although I'm not sure that makes an awful lot of difference except on the amount of time I got to stay in hospital!
Take care and be well before hand and chat to others on this site would be my best advice, but don't question yourself into a total dither!
Good luck xx
