Post-op Bleeding

I have had light continuous pink/orange bleeding since right after surgery. A few days ago it was more bright red, went back to pink/orange, then back to bright red today. Should I be concerned? Also, I had laparoscopic/vaginal hysterectomy/oophorectomy (both ovaries, uterus, & cervix were removed).

Re: Post-op Bleeding

I'm sorry to hear that you are bleeding. I had a LAVH on April 2, and about a week after I wasn't thinking and picked up my 2 year old son. I immediately started cramping and had bright red light bleeding. Have you done anything physically that would've caused you to start bleeding like that again? I waited a few days and after it didn't stop, I went to see my doc. He was worried that I tore some of the vaginal stitches, but thankfully I was ok. He told me that I had to take it easy and couldn't lift my son for another 2 weeks. How heavy is the bleeding, and are you having any pain? If you are concerned about it, I'd go ahead and call your doctor. If he/she isn't on call, they should have another doc that you can speak to. I hope everything turns out well for you!

Re: Post-op Bleeding

It's normal to lightly bleed and have discharge after your hyster. If you fill a pad within an hour or you have a fever you should call your or go to the ER, but what you're experiencing sounds okay to me. I bled and had discharge that was literally every color of the during my recovery. I'm not kidding either!!! It was red, yellow, orange, brown, even looked like a deep purple one day...so weird!!!

Re: Post-op Bleeding

Thank you for the response. I may have gone overboard...I went for a little 4 wheeler ride yesterday & probably did too much lifting & bending before that...had to do some laundry.

Re: Post-op Bleeding

Oh...you didn't say you did all of that!!! You should not be lifting anything right now (even ) you could hurt yourself.

Please and call your in the morning if you're not feeling well and

You may be starting to feel better and your incisions may be healing on the outside, but you've got LOTS of healing left to do on the inside.

in there!!!

Re: Post-op Bleeding

I was just feeling so much better that I tried to push it a little...I guess I pushed it too far...I'll try to take it easy until my 6 wks is up. Thank you to everyone that responded.
