Upcoming hyster and rectocyle surgery

I have my hysterectomy scheduled for June 6, and I am actually getting eager for it to get here. I have a rectocyle, as well as significant prolapsing, and a damaged perinium. For the last couple of months, the bowel issues are just horrible. My OBGYN says that my uterus is laying on my bowel, which is part of the problem, plus, it is prolapsed, and I also have IBS. Basically, going number 2 is the worst part of my whole day. Some days, I just feel like I need to go constantly, but then end up barely having anything release each time. I also have days of very loose stool, and more than anything, just un-announced urges to go. I am miserable.

Can someone please tell me this will be better post op?

Re: Upcoming hyster and rectocyle surgery

yes it will but going for a no2 will hurt. Tell the nursing staff you have ibs. Are you having all it done vaginally. Make sure that you dont get consapaited post op. Takle senna and lactouse and drink plenty of water. Your bowels go strike for a few day after the op. You will know when your bowels are ready to work again. you will have a lot of wind. Ask the nurses if you can something to help you to for a no2. You may have trouble going for a wee. You have a cath for about 2 days. you will very sore. They put in a vaginal pack after the op for 2 days. I hope this has put your mind at rest.
Hugs
