I have been taking Mirilax at night and a stool softener. I think that it has helped. This morning I had a little coffee and that got things moving too. Lol.
I do not have too much pain but do not have a lot of energy. Just feeling lazy.

Mirandah, "And then I sat at my desk for 10 minutes. Ow. Ow. Ow. Definitely won't be trying that again for another couple of days."
i don't think that we realize how much our stomach muscles help as sit up. I have been getting sore today sitting upright too, esp. Now that I have cut back on the pain pills. Take it easy!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 21-May 27,2012
Hi everyone, I am 3 days post op. I had to have an open hysto for a few reasons, but have been hurting since the surgery. They had me on morphine but it never helps my pain, so I got put on percocets which helps much better. Im also in pain due to a ruptured disk at the bottom my my back/tailbone so hard to tell which pain is which, I had 2 C sections and dont remember hurting this much after them. I came home yesterday and have been basically on the couch and walking a little. Just wish my back didnt hurt also because I probably would have healed and felt better faster. Thanks for all the support!

Yup, I think I pretty much wouldn't need the pain pills at all as long as I didn't have to do any real sitting. But those abs will let you know when they're unhappy! I also seem to have a spot along the left side of my lower abdomen that really pulls a lot when I've done too much. Starting to use ice to calm it down.
Walked two half-miles today, and didn't hurt anywhere near as much as those 10 minutes at my desk. Perhaps that's a lesson for the future, too. Less desk time!

I just have a really bad head ache today. My belly button feels like it's pulling inside. My daughter said she'll just reach down and pull it back out. My other daughter said it's the twins I left inside wanting to come out. They keep teasing me. I keep telling them when I get better they better watch it. Lol. I love my girls. Just tired and sore but feeling pretty good. Only taking Advil for minor discomfort. Thank you God!!! Be blessed ladies. I'm praying for you guys.

Hey Darksldy, I am 4 months post op and have found that the "stitch" you are feeling is the inside healing... I had quite a bit in the first 3 weeks, even times that I felt like it took my breath away... be patient, and when you start feeling like that, make sure you allow yourself time to stop and relax... you are healing for a long time so just take it slow... too quickly and you will be back to square one.

Hi Manda,
I am so sorry that you aren't feeling well and feeling bummed. Have you started any HRT? That will sometimes help with your mood. I have terrible depression and had to add to my prescription after surgery and went on Estrace. The combination of those two really seemed to help me. As for the BMs, a lot of the ladies from my support group swear by Smooth Move herbal tea. I had to use senokot a couple of times to help me too. If you are feeling sick to your stomach and not eating much then there would be no need for a BM so make sure that you are eating.
So many of us are not used to being idle that we get really blue when we have no choice but to sit. Use pillows to help positioning and for comfort.
Most of all, be patient with yourself. This is a marathon not a sprint.... breathe and give yourself a break!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 21-May 27,2012
Day 4 and I hope I didn't push it. I actually left my house! A friend picked me up and I went to see men in black III. Then ate at Mexico restaurant. I forgot to take ibuprofen before I left but I still haven't needed any. I am home now in my pjs and resting for the night. It was great to get out and I hope it doesn't backfire in my face. Hope everyone has a wonderful night.

I'm finally home. So sore but enjoying my own space. Coming home has me exhausted. I'll be in bed shortly.
