3 years later...VERTIGO

This is my story. I had a complete hysterectomy Feb 2009 and did really well no HRT. I then started suffering losses in my life starting a year later. On the Holmes and Rahe Stress Scale I scored a 182 for the past year. So yes I have become ill not really physical but mental. I suffer mood swings, foggy mind, irrational out of ordinary thoughts and decisions. Anyhow so after trying to figure out what is going on I have determined that I must have had an abundant supply of estrogen and other hormones and the tanks ran dry in the past 18 mos. I still don't want conventional HRT so I am going to try bio-identical cremes. I purchased estrogen and progesterone cremes and I am hoping that it will help with the emotional mess I have become. I am curious to know if anyone ever experienced vertigo during menopause or surgical menopause.. thanks for reading

Sorry you are having these issues. Don't really have any answers for you. What do you mean by vertigo? As people's interpretations vary.
Fear of heights? Dizziness? Probs w/middle ear? Do you have any other probs- eg head aches? Eye probs?
Have you had blood tests etc? What does your dr say? I find taking various vitamins and supplements has helped my meno symptoms- I don't take HRT at all.
Good luck!
Let us know how you get on.

Re: 3 years later...VERTIGO

I don't have any issues with it personally, but my sister got it when going through natural menopause and my eldest daughter is peri-menopausal and she has also developed vertigo.

Neither ever had it before.

Re: 3 years later...VERTIGO

Sorry to hear that you are having all kinds of symptoms and stress - I hope that things will get better for you in time...

I was already post menopause when I had my hysterectomy, so I know that did not cause vertigo in my case. I had a two week bout of vertigo the year before my hysterectomy, and when I went to the doctor about it, after examination was told that the type of vertigo I had was caused by the tiny microscopic "rocks" inside the inner ear getting out of place. (There is some treatment for that if the vertigo becomes a problem.) In my case it was merely annoying; I got dizzy (room was spinning, not sure about where vertical was) when I sat up after sleeping or lying down, but if I just sat there a minute or two, the feeling passed, and after a week or two, the vertigo dissapeared. Last week I had vertigo, the identical symptoms, for three days, and again it went away...

All this is my long way round of pointing out that it may be possible that the vertigo is a symptom of something happening in your body that is not necessarily related to your hysterectomy. I would suggest that you speak to your doctor, or visit your doctor, particularly if your vertigo symptoms are interfering with your daily life. That way you can be more confident about how to best deal with it. Good luck and wishes to you
