Apbarr:

I thought I was the only one LOL..not a problem with #1..just going more often...but OMG...#2 is painful at times..I'm looking forward to getting this done..just still scared. I've had Carpal Tunnel Release surgery on both hands and trigger finger release surgery on my left thumb, a tonsillectomy at 25..but this..on a whole other level.

Re: In so much pain...please help.

I understand. I will be so glad to be able to just go to the bathroom. It's bad when you eat prunes and don't notice a difference. I have gas and have do do #1 alot also. I feel like this is pushing up and out just under my rib cage. My bra hurts and all sorts of things. This is definately on another level, maybe many levels! lol

Take care and take it easy.

Re: In so much pain...please help.

Jjay- while at the hospital I was nervous about going home at the 24 hour mark and wanted to make sure I held down food before I got pushed out the door. The nurse told me insurance will not pay for longer stay if I was not receiving IV drugs or fluids. Basically, I can take pills at home. So, as long as your pain and condition require an IV, you will remain in the hospital. I was not allowed to eat or drink anything for 18 hours after surgery but managed to stay until dinner the second day. Even though they removed the catheter at 6am morning after surgery- which was a good thing- I still had pain meds all day 2 and did not get the IV out until after I ate lunch and held it down ok. Everything ended up being fine once I got home. The drive wasnt comfortable nor was waiting in the car while my husband filled my pain med prescription, but he was happy we were home that second night and I did just fine. I would highly suggest they give you your post op pain script to fill before surgery!!! That Was not fun and totally unavoidable!!!

Apbarr:

Oh the horrible gas issue...it's gotten worse over the course of a few months, and when it gets trapped and can't find a way out...the pain is horrific! I switched to a sports bra (not much support, but it's about comfort now LOL). I'll keep you in my prayers on your upcoming surgery.

Rileyapril:

The surgery coordinator actually told me that she'll be at the hospital with me and she's going to make sure that she has the prescriptions filled. Last thing I want to do is sit in a car and wait for a prescription to get filled...that usually ends up being 30 min to an hour..the latter of the two is probably more precise. I kind of freaked when she told me they would keep me for 24 hours unless I had complications...I figured at least 2 days. But with the insurance I have...I'm not surprised.

Re: In so much pain...please help.

The approval I got from my insurance company said 1 night in the hospital, but hopefully it won't be a problem if they keep me there more than that. My doctor told me going home depended on three things: 1. I have to be eating a normal diet; 2. I can't have a fever; and 3. I have to want to go home (thought that was interesting).

Diva Gila:

I can understand #1 and 2...but 3?? That is interesting...staying in the hospital is not what I would consider a vacation. I was pretty much told as long as I can produce a regular bowel movement, keep food down and not have a fever, I'll go home the next day. Only time will tell, and I'm on a serious count down right now..time ticks so fast when you don't want it too (vacations and such)...but when you really want it to go fast (like now)...it moves at a snails pace.

Re: In so much pain...please help.

I was in the same boat! By the time I had my hysterectomy, I looked like I was about 7 months pregnant and felt like it. My Uterus was so big and filled with fibroids that it was sitting on my bladder and crushing it. VERY painful. My doctor put me on Tramadol. Its a great pain medicine that allows you to do your everyday life things. I have 3 kids and I cant be knocked out with pain pills! It helped me until I had my surgery on May 8th. maybe that is something that you can talk to the nurse about.

My castle stay was 24 hours. I was so happy when the doctor told me I could go home the next day. Something that the doctor told me after surgery is that my uterus was so big that it was pressing on my bowels. I lost 40 pounds in 3 months because I was not able to eat or go to the bathroom. So I would say that it is possible for that to be sitting on the nerve.

I really hope you start to feel better!!

Wowgamer:

I've actually had 2 people I know ask me if I was pregnant...OMG!! What a horrible thing to be asked especially if you're not (one was out of genuine concern...the other was just being plain NOSY). I sometimes waddle and limp at the same time because of the heavy uterus and the pain that is from my waist all the way down the right side of my body. I definitely would love to know once this is over..just how much my uterus weighs. I had to buy a bigger size pair of pants just to accommodate of my stomach..awful feeling.

danielle1985:

I have to stop taking the Naproxen on the 11th...the next 10 days are going to be a mess. I've taken Hydrocodone when I had surgeries done on my hands. Didn't get rid of the pain, but made me seriously sleepy and out of it..pretty much what the Naproxen does now. I think since I've taken it for so long..my body is building up an immunity to it. Hope all goes well with you.
