Will my procedures be postponed if I have a yeast infection?!

Maybe this is a dumb question, but, here goes. I woke up this morning with a yeast infection. I did not have this diagnosed by a doctor--clinics aren't open here on the weekends, and I've had 1 before so am sure that's what it is. The first one I had was several years ago and I was given Diflucan. It got rid of the yeast infection, but made my whole body itch. I decided to just get the OTC stuff this time, and picked up a pack of Monistat-1. I used it a few hours ago, not even considering that maybe I should have found out if it was OK to use before surgery or not. I am scheduled for ablation and laparoscopy on the 30th (4 days from now) and am freaking that they will make me postpone it. I had a very difficult time getting everything lined up to have it done next week (sitter, time off, etc.). Anyone know if having used the Monistat-1 this evening was OK? Did I just screw up?! I will try to call the doc on Monday (not sure they're open on Memorial Day!!).

I think it will be fine. I wouldn't use it the day before surgery, but other than that should be fine. Call your doctor to make sure though.

Re: Will my procedures be postponed if I have a yeast infection?!

Thanks Abagayle. I will definitely call my doctor, hope they're open tomorrow! I did a few searches online and couldn't find anywhere that said not to use the Monistat before surgery. My main concern (sorry to be so graphic!) is the discharge from the ovule you insert, when it dissolves it starts coming out. Hope that's done by Wednesday. I'm now coming down with a cold as well, ugh!

Re: Will my procedures be postponed if I have a yeast infection?!

It should be done by Wednesday as long as you don't insert another one. Your surgery is much more likely to get postponed due to the cold. My first surgery date was in March, but I was rescheduled 5 weeks out because I had a cold.

Good luck.
