Surgery is scheduled, what will I need?? da vinci robotic complete hysterectomy

Hi everyone. I've been reading a lot of the different threads and getting overwhelmed . Lots of the threads mention a tummy support binder thing, is that something that is really only needed for TAH? Or is that something that helps with any hysterectomy?

Oh and GasX, again is that specific to a TAH or is gas a side effect for all of the different surgeries?

Other than cleaning up my room, having lots of books/movies, fresh sheets, etc. I'm not sure what else to get/do to prepare for recovery.

Thanks for any comments!!!

One thing I forgot to mention in my other thread that you might need is bandaids. I'm going through a ton of them because of a little bit of seepage, and I forgot to buy more!

Buy underwear and PJs a size bigger than you usually wear. I literally lived in them for over a week. Gas-x and stool softeners were a must for a week or two. I also took Advil or Tylenol once I was home from the hospital instead of prescription pain meds.

I had the same surgery as you. My appetite was fine after surgery. I ate lots of salad and fruit to keep my tummy moving - PLEASE do this!

Hi! I had davinci last July and let me tell you--- life has been wonderful since then!! You'll need pads because you will have some pink drainage for a few days. I only took 1 percocet at home,
Then Advil for a day or two and that was it. I stayed on colace-- the stool softener for a week or so. I had surgery Thursday and I think my first BM was Sunday morning. My appetite was zero for a week. The little I ate I made sure was fruits or salads do I could keep things "moving".
I wore nightgowns the first few days. Oh and PLEASE walk, walk, walk. I am a nurse and I know how important walking is. I walked the halls of the hospital twice the evening of surgery and once home the next day I would walk for 5-10 minutes every hour or two. I would walk in my driveway or in the house. Walking not only helps prevent blood clots, but I think helps with bowel movements, pain and healing. So please: walk, and rest. That's all for 2 weeks.
At 2 weeks I went to mall. My kids carries the bags. I thought I felt perfectly fine all three hours. But when I got home at 3pm I went to bed for 17 hours! So, go slow and if u overdo it, you'll know.
Best wishes!
