Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 28-Jun 03,2012

If your hysterectomy was between May 28-Jun 03,2012 this is the place to post your progress during your hysterectomy recovery.

If you have a question about your recovery, please start a new thread to receive answers and support for your concerns instead of including the question in your update! There is information on how to start a new thread in this link: New Here? or you can use this link: Post a New Topic in the Post-Op forum.

Post how you are doing here when you are home and well enough to sit a few minutes at your computer.

We hope you are recovering well with plenty of rest and water and a bit of walking. Don't forget to pamper the princess!

How to use the Recovery Progress Reports thread:

  • 1. This thread is for the purpose of sharing updates on your recovery as you heal from your hysterectomy.

  • 2. Generally, ONE or TWO posts on this thread per member/per day is adequate to share your daily progress and to share encouragement with your surgery week Sisters.

  • 3. Remember to start a new thread on the Post-Op message board to ask your questions.

  • 4. The Progress Report threads will be moved at approximately 8 weeks post-op to the Date Club forum inside the HysterSisters clubhouse.

  • 5. Remember all the love and support you got here as a pre-op member? Now it's YOUR turn to give back to the women in the Pre-Op Hysterectomy Support forum. Extend your hand and your hugs in replies to our pre-op ladies in waiting. This will complete our circle of women helping women!

  • 6. You can also share support and experiences with post-op members in all phases of recovery in the Post-Op Hysterectomy Support forum by replying on the new threads they create.

Good Morning ladies:O) My name is Michelle, I am 15 mos post-op from the works. I have had a few bumps in the road, but my "Sisters" have been here for me the whole time and now I have been given an awesome oppurtunity to be a Sunshine Sister, so I can give back. That means that along with Sue0103 and one of our wonderful hostesses, I will be here to guide you on your post op journey.

I look forward to meeting all of you and sharing your journey.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 28-Jun 03,2012

Hi Ladies,
As mentioned by Michelle (painfree214), I am the other half of the sunshine sister team who will provide you with support, advise and just a shoulder to cry on going through your journey. I live in the UK and had my TVH with A/P repairs on 12th December 2011 (just over 5 months) so can relate to how you feel and some of the issues that will face you whilst you recover. I am not a DR or have any medical experience - just a lady who has been through what you ladies are experiencing now. I found this site so helpful when I was recovering so, when I had the opportunity to become a Sunshine Sister, I jumped at the chance - it's my way of giving back something.
Due to work issues, I try to sign in every couple of days just to see how you are doing and catch up on the gossip.
Welcome to our forum ladies and Michelle and I look forward to helping you an amazingly bizarre journey.

Big hugs

Sue xxx

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 28-Jun 03,2012

Hi I have just come out of hospital today after having a laproscopic hysterctomy, bilateral salpingoopherectomy, cystoscopy, wow what a mouthful and I am pleased to say all is well after having it so far,I am here in Sydney Australia and had 2 doctors with me and my Gyno assisted and it all went well.No morphin button was used by me after settling into my room as I had no pain to combat and the nurses just gave me a injection for blood clots and panadol every 2 hours during the night. So now I am at home resting 4 to 6 weeks to heal form this op and so far no problems as yet will report back later on in the week,I hope others that had theirops on the 28th of May are recuperating well ,love to you all Morehu

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 28-Jun 03,2012

Yeah we made it. I'll be living on this group forever.

Got to castle at nine. Back at nine thirty. Gown and iv. Oh and course the dreaded warm bow up blanket. Ughhh like I need that. I'd sweat in Alaska. Back to operating table at ten. I remember thinking..did she put that in my iv...three seconds later I'm out. Lol

Wake up in recovery. It was so nice sleeping that I didn't want to wake up. Spoken like a true mom. Lol

Back to room. Saw Brian and all was well again. Ice chips finally. Oxygen in nose. Pads on thighs. I actually liked them. Can I take em home? Lol

Dct came in and explained it took over two hours. Longer than he thought. He got in and my bladder was squashed flat against my uterus. He said it happened from the scarring of the csection. No wonder I have to get up to pee 5-6 times a night. Geezeeee. So he had to very slowly take it away from the uterus without poking it. Makes me sweat just thinking about it. He was wonderful and took extra time to put dye to fill it up and make sure no holes. Everything else was great and smooth.

Tried to stick to a every five hour pain med routine. Got shot in iv and two magic pills.

Peeing was difficult to say the least. Seems like I had to push it out. Very tiring.

Was hungry after the jello so got semi real supper. Brian stayed until nine and then went home. I went to sleep. I was able to lay on my left side. It didn't hurt hardly at all. My right side was horrible. Laying on back was better than I expected.

Aren't the vital checks ohhhh so fun during the night. Two am was a big man all in white and I'm actually awake. I thought I was in a psyc ward. Lol. And he has the nerve to try to turn on the room light. I could of killed him. He finally gave up and opened the door.

This morning finally came. Oh so glad. Day to go home. Good breakfast and then time to get out of the bed. My gas at arrived in my chest and shoulders. It was getting hard to breathe. We walked up and down dragging my pee bag along with us. Lol.

Dct did a drive by and said ok go home. Lol. He's a hoot! got home and took a long nap. I'm up and feeling better.

Sorry so long. I prayed for all 54 of us and hope all is home and resting well.

Hi Morehu - Glad it went well and you are feeling fine. It's very early days so remember to rest, don't lift / strain and take every day it comes. Drink lots of water as well. Look forward to getting to know you and help in any way I can.

Happy healing
