Singer_chic, yea on the passing gas and it does feel wonderful when it happens, lol. Have a safe ride home.

Grace72, Unfortunately a lot of us sisters have experienced the same in regards to support. My mom lives right next door and hardly checked up on me, nor did she visit me in the hospital. I do know that some people are just unsure of what we need or feel the surgery was so personal that they act like it never happened. Glad that hubby and son are stepping up and taking great care of you!

Have you spoken to your dr about traveling so soon after surgery? I am glad to see that you still plan ontaking it easy when you get there. I live about 8 minutes from the ocean and I do think there is some magical healing properties to it. It just brings a calm over you.
That makes sense. My doctor is totally on board with my trip. I'm going to see him 1 day before I leave and he already told me I can heal wherever I'm happiest. I just have to stop & walk every hour or so during the drive. I plan on laying in the back seat. Before surgery, we set up pillows & arranged seat belts in a dry-run to make sure I'd have a safe, comfy trip.

Today I've started wearing my belly binder. I love it!! I will try a shower later. A little scared, not sure why.

Going up the stairs is killing me. To the point of tears and making my husband worry. So I am kinda stuck upstairs. I've made it a point to walk the hallway between the bedrooms every time I get up to pee.

Normally I am a side sleeper, but I wasn't able to do it after surgery til I read all your pillow tips. So thanks for that. I've got this pillow fort around me. And a "Great Wall O' Pillow" separating my husband and myself.

Got to rest up today so that my warden, I mean my adorable husband, will let me downstairs to see my daughter graduate from high school tomorrow.
That was a laugh worth the pain!! We've been joking about my pillow recovery fortress armed with one weapon...the toot launcher.
I too, walk halls after each peepee. Stairs aren't hard for me but my hubs & son give me the stink-eye for doing too much.
I'm not sad at all about all the housework I'm missing out in...especially laundry.

My surgery was on the 29th and I am happy to say that the nausea I was having seems to be going away. I do, however, need to be talked off the ledge a bit about something. I made the mistake of reading up a little too much today on vaginal cuff tears, openings etc. it has made me so completely terrified! I had the option of keeping my cervix but decided to have that removed as well due to some questionable pap smears in the past and wanting to avoid future problems in that area. Now I am wondering if I made a mistake! Seriously.. I am obsessing on it and making my husband crazy. UUGGHHHHH!

had my laprascopic hyster on Thursday at 10:30 . Took around 2 hrs then went to recovery. I couldnt pee so the nurses had me walk around the ward ,rest, drink walk, rest drink walk. Still nothing. kept trying but nothing. Started throwing up around 8:00, went to the bathroom to clean up then tried again to pee and finally had success. Was able to leave at 8:30 pm. Got sick the whole ride home. I felt so much better when I was in my own home with my heating pad on my stomach and my maltese dog by my side. Once I was home I couldnt stop peeing, figures. Taking the pain meds every 4-6 hrs and havent had any problems Feeling really good. My Dr called to check on me yesterday and told me my uterus was 1685 grams. Normal is 60-80 grams. She took about 4 pounds out of me. So she said I should feel alot bteter than I did before surgery after I heal. I feel great today. Resting and getting up to slowly walk every once in a while. Wishing everyone else a good recovery process.

Hseverus0, I have a malti-poo that has been my buddy since I got home. I don't know about yours, but mine has been so good to me. I think he's gonna help me heal faster just having him by my side. Sorry things were so miserable for you right away. Let that doggy love you back to health.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 28-Jun 03,2012

My surgery was 5/31. Highlights were the day before my urine test pre-op popped positive for pregnancy...so less than 12 houra before surgery they confirmed a false positive.

I did not have pre-op bowel prep...just no eating after midnight.

The day of surgery the nurse spent several minutes "chasing my vein" as she called in apology to set my IV. Another person came to shave me. I then had to use the bathroom and my dad visiting said wait let me get the grass off your bed. I said "no don't touch that...it's not grass!" Too late...my poor dad stood there clueless while I tried to explain they shaved me and couldn't help laughing....ooooh gross!

A pastor in our church came to pray with me before the surgery, but instead the doctor came in and asked if he could pray with me. He took my hand and prayed for skill and guidance as he did the surgery and for calmness and healing for me. Him praying with me gave me the greatest peace. Then I was out as the anesthesiologist pushed meds into the IV.

I woke up in my room and my parents were bickering...I told them it was not the roght place and to take it elsewhere. They continued to argue and cause stress the next day and a half until my husband told them they had to leave. I was so disappointed in their selfiah disregard for my need...but have to say the hormone patch they have me on is AWESOME...I didn't get upset once and usually I am a hot mess when they behave this way.

Recovery was tough...basically I didn't know to ask for pain meds, becuase I had a pain pump and I had to be to roll on my side and after telling 3 people I was in pain my husband went to demand help as I collapsed into tears about 6 hours after surgery. A nurse lectured me about asking for meds, not trying to be brave, and letting my pain get out of control. I finally told her I was in severe pain and her condescending attitude was making it worse. She left and I never saw her again.

The nee shift came on and waited on me hand and foot. I knew two of the nurses and we quickly found phineregan was not helping...I needed Zofran and the morphine alternative made me very sick as I began vomitting. They switched me to Loratab and by the afternoon after surgery was released to go home.

They gave me 4 shots in the rump while in the hospital...iron, hormone, pain meds. Also, the head nurse came in and recorded what happened the first day and several came by and apologized that my pain had been allowed to get out of control.

At home I am taking lots of walks, spening time in the recliner vs the bed. I pulled out the pain pump from about 8 inches in my belly and although very weird in the moment I feltnmuch better afterward. I have had a great appetite...but even after a dulcolax and stool softners have not had success in getting my bowels moving...so I continue to eat high fiber foods and walk.

My niece came to stay and is taking care of the kids...my hubby is taking care of me. My 11 year old son is deeply concerned and hugs me when I stand up. My 5 year old son is my walking buddy and has been up and waiting at my door the past two morning to take me walking and takes his job very seriously. My two year old girl has figured out with her stool she can turn the bedroom light on and off so this is her job.

My hubby moved my recliner in the bedroom and so the kids will climb on the end of my bed and I can read to them or they will talk to me. Last night I had a bad headache and didn't sleep...so I slept much of today away. The weather is nice and I am now walkong down to past two neighbors houses and back. I just wish I could go to the bathroom!

I getbmy stitches out next Wednesday...he said per my hubby (I don't remember) that I had lots of scar tissue from my csection that was on and around my bladder...lots of endometriosis and a huge uterus...which he suspected to be adenomyosis...he didn't mention the cyst on my ovary...but he did send everything he removed off to pathology.

That's all for now...I hope you are all doing well.
