progesterone question

I have a progesterone questions. Been on replacement hormones for +/- 12 years. The last 3 years Soto pellets estrogen & test. I haven't need any progesterone but now apparently my P is low (and as a side note my corticoid is high) The dr started me on 200mg oral progesterone but it cause me to retain water which I haven't had a problem with since before the hyst.. Drop the dosage to 100mg oral and I just felt like I was drugged. I read some of the other post and does appear that some women are very sensitive to the progesterone. should I give it some more time and see if I get use to it or should I maybe try another delivery method like a creme.

Re: progesterone question

I also was on pellets for over 15 years and they all of a sudden seemed not to be working as well. A homeopathic dr. wanted me to try some natural progesterone due to all my symptons going on, allergies, anxiety, and so on. I did the same thing, she explained my estrogen receptors are not getting enough down time, and the progesterone wakes them up where you don't need as much estrogen. I was told from the beginning to cut estrogen use by half when starting the progesterone. After all the years of being told you don't need it, I finnaly realize you do. My cortisol level is down, allergies down, and I don't feel like a junkie waiting for the next estrogen fix. I take one week off a month to do a wash of everything. Now, I don't have to have nearly as much estrogen as before. I also did have water retention at first until the estrogen dropped some. Hope this helps a little.
