Re: Reassuring needed
Being pre-op and waiting is probably the hardest part. For sure there are things to deal with once you are out of surgery, but looking down the road a ways, you will be a healthier woman doing things you probably haven't been able to due to pain, bleeding, whatever.
Yes, the waiting is hard, but take the time to prepare yourself, you house, your family. I set up a special convalescing room before surgery, complete with my big screen tv, streaming netflix, comfy pillows, etc. Made sure it was a bright sunny spot so I wouldn't feel "shut in". In retrospect, that was a great thing to come home to. You are in my thoughts.

Re: Reassuring needed
Yes, try to keep occupied in the lead up to surgery. Preparing well for your return home will pay off. My house was sparkling when I left on the morning of my surgery and it was lovely to return to it. Organising food and stuff to help at home in the recovery stage is a good idea and having the things you will need at easy reach is wise too. Pamper yourself too if you can. I got my hair done (wash and blow dry) the day before surgery and it did make me feel better and I woke up from surgery looking lovely
The waiting is tough but it will be over before you know it.
Very best wishes.

Re: Reassuring needed
(((Hugs))) I'm six weeks post-op. I remember the waiting, and how nervous I was, especially the night before. You know, it is okay to rest and watch movies on the couch the night before and fall asleep if you can.
I got up early, took a really nice long liesurely bath, curled my hair (no product used) and spend some time praying before I went in to the castle at 8am.
Afterwards, it was nice to have it over. I did spend time making sure the house was clean, I had meals and a comby place to recover - which helps to deal with the pre-op anxiety.
Hang in there.

Re: Reassuring needed
My motto has been "Keep BUSY"! I've been cleaning, scrubbing, washing, rearranging, "decrapfying" my house, and it makes me feel better when I will come home to a tip top house. My family will just have to keep up with the regular stuff. I've had 5 weeks to wait, and the more I keep busy, the faster time has gone. Best wishes!!

Re: Reassuring needed
I had the same surgery you did seven weeks ago. It is about the least invasive of the surgeries that you can have, especially if you keep your ovaries! Many women on the site are doing great right away. I was released for everything at 2 weeks. However I had a huge tumor that had been in me for decades removed as well. The complications of my insides adjusting has made my actual recovery longer. Just listen to your body and believe what it tells you and ask for your doctors help -- if you need it.
They have lists for things to have ready post-surgery on this site. The thing that isn't really covered is lining up the emotional support. Send a link of the post op videos to the close friends and family you will be relying on so they understand what it is you'll be going through. If you heal faster than the videos suggest -- bonus! Ask for phone calls, visits and if you don't get them from the people you want, call them and tell them you miss them! Surgery is a mystery to many people, so don't hesitate to ask for what you want and need
