Sex - couldn't wait any longer!

I just couldn't wait any longer - I am 7 weeks post op, appointment with my doctor on Monday for the final check up, including internal.

But I just couldn't wait!!

There was no pain, everything felt great, no dryness or discomfort. My head kept me from thoroughly enjoying this as I was 'waiting' for a sign that it was too soon, scared that I would have pain at any moment....thankfully, I didn't.

Afterwards, there was some bleeding. I think its stopped. Nothing major but enough that I am concerned because I haven't bled since leaving the hospital....is this normal, the bleeding afterwards?

Thanks for your thoughts...and any words of advice, its all greatly appreciated.

If the bleeding starts again, please contact your doctor before Monday. Be sure, however, to let your doctor know that you resumed intercourse before clearance (and experienced bleeding) so s/he will know exactly what to look for in terms of any possible damage.

Try not to worry too much in the meantime. I'm sending positive thoughts!

Re: Sex - couldn't wait any longer!

You need to call your doctor. My doctor told me at my post-op yesterday that she repaired a torn vaginal cuff yesterday on a woman who was 8 weeks post-op. She said that the women told her she had had sex 2 times before being cleared by her doctor and then 8 weeks post op when she was cleared, she had sex and her cuff tore. My doctor explained that early sex can weaken the cuff so it doesn't heal right and then can tear later, even after clearance from your doctor. So, based off what my doctor explained, I'd advise calling your doctor and have your vaginal cuff checked. It's so much better to be safe when it comes to this.

Hope you will be ok. If it's reassuring, I am 4 weeks post op and have been cleared by the Dr. to resume activities!

Re: Sex - couldn't wait any longer!

I agree with checking in with your doctor. IF you have not been cleared you need to call them and tell them what you did and that you had some bleeding. I am sure it will not be the first time your doctor has had a patient jump the gun in this area.

In general, yes, some bleeding is often normal after having sex the first time, however, having sex before you have been given the ok is never a good idea.

Hopefully all is well.
