Worried about summer trip

OMGosh, reading some posts makes me petrified for our summer vacation! We will be driving nine hours to get there! It's not for another month and a half but still....guess I'd better bring my aresenal of "stuff". I still can't decide if sitting on a donut pillow is any better or not. Sometimes it feels like it's just pushing everything into that hole and makes it worse. Maybe I should just fly and everyone else can drive there LOL!

Re: bladder prolapsed again??

HATED my donut pillow, lol. I need support on my bottom. During the first weeks I used a dense foam cushion with a centre split - imagine sitting with your bottom on the sofa cushion crack. That was better for me. Donut made me feel worse. Now I use a smallish soft pillow and I take it everywhere. I have to fly 4 hours in two weeks and I am just going to have to take some motrin along just in case. I have additional tailbone issues though so try not to worry. I am going for physio to help with that. You kept your uterus?

Re: bladder prolapsed again??

Yes, kept uterus as I had had the ablation so no bleeding issues or other uterine issues other than a couple small fibroids. Doctor agreed there was no need for it to come out so then I figured it really didn't need to.

Where did you find your split cushion? I have found myself sitting between the couch cushions here at home!

Re: Worried about summer trip

We had planned a trip to Montana, 7 weeks after my surgery which included a rectocele repair. Up until the last minute I wasn't sure I could go because i found sitting so uncomfortable. I found a tailbone cushion (coccyx cushion) at Wal-Mart which helped immensely --that and we took four days to drive out west.

Re: Worried about summer trip

My cushion was custom made for a friend that was having tailbone surgery. I borrowed it. Imagine 2 pieces of dense foam about 2" thick. Each measuring about 10" x 6 " - slip them into a pillow case and sew it shut allowing enough room for there to be a split of an inch between them. Any material can be used really. The one I am using has a non slip upholstery fabric. As stated above some sort of coccyx cushion would work well too.
