Just found Labial Lump (Scary)

I am a bit worried as I wait for my Hyster on June 29th I just found a lump on my left labia. It is about the size of a marble. I t may be a little smaller but not by much. My mind is getting ahead of me as I already have big fibroids, pain, pressure and bloating. Am I over reacting. How do I know and what should I do?

Re: Just found Labial Lump (Scary)

Call your DR and ask him/her.

I don't know if what you have is what I've had be here goes--I've had 2 lumps there at different times once about 5 years ago and once about 2 years ago. Both times they were like a boil. Warm baths with epsom salts helped. Both times they resolved on their own (basically came to a head and popped-oozed some white stuff and a bit of blood - like a big pimple then the pressure was gone and the swelling in that location went away too. I know my mom did have the same thing and the Dr. actually lanced hers to drain.

Again, I don't know if what you have is what I had and since you are getting closer to surgery you should check with your Dr. about any treatment now so it doesn't get worse.

Re: Just found Labial Lump (Scary)

Thanks. That is great advice. I made myself get off of the Vulva Cancer Websites. It is informative though. I didn't know women should be doing montly exams of their pubic region, labia, vulva, clitoris, vagina and the area between the vagina and the anus. They show how to do it on one website and how to use a mirror. It all seems like life saving advice.

Re: Just found Labial Lump (Scary)

Don't Google vulva cancer. That's so rare. Just inform your doctor.

I have Lichen Sclerosus, which raises my risk of developing vulva cancer and even with that increased risk, it is still rare. What is not rare is all sorts of things that can cause lumps on the labia (cysts, boils, abscesses, clogged gland, etc.).

Vulva cancer usually presents itself as a soar, lesion, or ulcer. And yes, we should all be using a mirror to look for changes. I had LS for years before I even knew because I didn't know to look down there with a mirror.

Re: Just found Labial Lump (Scary)

Don't be scared -- it is most likely a pimple/cyst. Cancer does not suddenly appear as a big lump anywhere.

I got one once and completely freaked out -- I thought it was herpes! Ran to the doctor, and she assured me that you really can get pimples on the labia and not to worry about it.

Soak in a warm bath and you'll be fine.

Re: Just found Labial Lump (Scary)

I agree with everyone above. I am blessed with clogged ducts and from time to time one will become a boil. Painful... yes but they tend to resolve quickly. My advice is ask your about it if you are concerned. Breathe deep and don't assume the worst.

Re: Just found Labial Lump (Scary)

Thanks everyone. I feel better. I have a new question but I'll start a new thread to ask it. It is probably a clogged duct. That is what it feels like.
