What the heck are ...............?

Hotflashes and NightSweats? I don't know if I am breaking a fever or what. I don't think I am sick, lol. It mainly happens at night and when I go to bed for the last few nights I wake up about 20 mins later all sweaty and gross. I'm not sure what is going on with my body and believe me I don't like it, it is interrupting my beauty sleep, lmbo! I feel like an idiot asking this but I have no one else to ask. My doc put me on Provera 2.5 mg daily about 5 weeks ago, I went to him last week and told him I am still having hotflashes and he giggled and told me if I didn't take my provera daily then they would be alot worse. Now I am getting nightsweats (I think). Why do our bodies go thru that? Also my doc said he won't up my dosage until I have taken this dosage for 3 months. Well I hope you ladies can help me on giving me a description of what you have/had experienced with this. I hope I'm not going nutz, lol, take care my fellow hystersisters.

What the heck are ...............?

Hi Denise,
You are not nutz. I had an experience Monday night. I returned to college a year ago. My classes started Monday. I always take a sweater because the classrooms are big and airy. As usual the classrooms were chilly. Well, one hour into the lecture I broke out in a sweat and became so hot that I had to pick up my notebook and start fanning myself. I felt so stupid. Some people were looking at me as if I were crazy. It went away after a few minutes and the room became chilly again. I take Premarin 0.625.
Except for the morning after my surgery, this is the first hotflash I experienced. I assumed with HRT you wouldn't get flashes. Oh well!! Anyone else out there on HRT and getting flashes?

Cynthia

What the heck are ...............?

Hi Denise!

When the ovaries are gone or are not functioning, it means there is not any hormone secretion ovaries normally produce. The body gets a little upset and causes the hotflash which causes sweat.

My DR is requiring me to give my current estrogen replacement 3 months to work, too.

Hopefully your symptoms will begin to subside; I think we do owe it to ourselves to give it some time, even though it's sometimes not very pleasant.

I invite you to also visit the HORMONE JUNGLE, where these issues are THE topic. Lots of experience there.

Best wishes! Hope we all find our hormonal balance very soon!

What the heck are ...............?

Hi

The first night sweat I had , I woke up and thought I had wet the bed I was so soaked. (I hadn't LOL) They were waking me (hot flashes) 3 or 4 times a night I told my dr. who doubled my estrogen and I haven't had one since. I hope that continues because I need all the beauty sleep I can get(LOL)

What the heck are ...............?

Denise,
I am 7 weeks post TAH/BSO and not taking any estrogen for awhile because I had stage 4 endo. The night sweats started a few days after surgery. For awhile it seemed like I was sweating all night from the time my head hit the pillow until I got up. I'm taking a soy supplement (over the counter pills called SoyCare) and after I started that and a multi-vitamin, the night sweats seemed to lessen but I still have them every night. What you are describing definitely sounds like night sweats.
As for hot flashes, that has not been too much of a problem yet for me. The one thing I've noticed since I'm back to work this week is that when I'm driving to work I have to keep shutting the heater off because I get too hot. Then I get cold and have to turn the heat on again. I'm trying to keep my sense of humor about this ... I just say that my thermostat is broken!
