Afraid ovaries are not working!

How long does it take for ovaries to wake up? Is it normal to still have symptoms at 4 weeks post op? I'm extremely emotional, my legs are crazy achey in the evenings, my hair is falling out and I feel very foggy/disconnected. The night sweats have subsided.

Also I was told I kept a part of my cervix but have not shed one drop of blood since the surgery.

Maybe it's just nerves but I'm scared this is taking too long. I'm 34 and cannot fathom the idea of needing HRT this young.

Re: Afraid ovaries are not working!

It can take months, everyone is different. You are still very early post op. I would not panic just yet.

That is good that you have not dropped a shed of blood.

So it makes sense to not bleed even keeping a part of the cervix? I'm so confused!

Re: Afraid ovaries are not working!

Hugs honey and deep breath. Some ladies do not bleed at all after their hyster. And for those that bleed, I think that is coming from the vaginal cuff. If you have your cervix, you won`t have a vaginal cuff, therefore no incision healing up at the end of your vagina.

It can take months for the ovaries to wake up. I felt mine kick back in around 6 weeks post op. I was an absolute emotional mess until they did. I realize you`re young and are worried about a life of HRT, but try not to jump ahead. You are still very early in your healing.

You can schedule an appointment with your doctor to discuss these concerns, and I`m sure s/he will set your mind at ease.
