Re: June 1st hyst.

Not being able to have the urge to urinate is totally normal. I didn't get that sensation back until at least 2 months post-op. I actually wondered if I would ever get it back since it took so long. I learned that when my tummy was uncomfortable that it was time for a trip to the bathroom and tried to schedule a bathroom trip on a regular basis. I hope this helps.

Re: June 1st hyst.

I am almost 5 weeks out, and I still don't have the sensation. Doc said it takes about two months for some of those signals to come back. It's weird, isn't it? I just visit the bathroom more often, just to be sure. An unexpected sneeze or cough could be a real issue!

Take care, and know that you're not alone!

Everyone that goes through this has a different experience. Please continue to take your pain meds as your body will heal better with your pain under control. No need to "suck it up" because you are only harming yourself in the long run. Take care!

Re: June 1st hyst.

I see that now it is just amazing how many women I have talked to who said once they got home they did not need their pain meds and at first I admit I was that way too, forgetting that I was on a pain pump at the hospital, but once all the medicine left my system OMG I could not move the pain was that bad then my kids finally talked me into taking my meds and the change was amazing -- I love this site because the women on this site gives good advice and I appreciate it so much

Re: June 1st hyst.

I absolutely took the pain meds! Started on percocet, changed over to tramadol or ibuprofen after that. I have hoarded the pills I didn't take...I go back to work this week, you never know!
