Re: Bladder Prolapse
Does anyone here know or has anyone here had their bladder tact back up without going through the hyst. part? What I am trying to say is, I had a complete hyst. 6 years ago and now my bladder has fallen a little and is causing me some discomfort and incontinence. When I had my hyst. all of those years ago, I apparently didn't need my bladder tied back up at that time, otherwise I assume he would have done it then. I am just trying to locate someone who can give me some general information regarding a bladder tact and how long of a hospital stay, recovery at home, etc.... Anything you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Bladder Prolapse
I'm not sure what your problem is...whether you mean you have a cystocele or some other problem. Anyway, my advice is to find out exactly what is wrong, then research on the different ways to repair it (there are a gazillion methods for different problems, some more successful than others).
You can find out a lot at
www.mybladdermd.com
www.urogynecologychannel.com
www.pelvicfloor.com
All have info on different problems, the solutions/procedures to fix them, and bladdermd tells about recovery.
Good luck to you
Susan

Re: Bladder Prolapse
Hi Susan,
Thanks for your feedback. However, yes, I Do have a Cystocele. It's a small one but enough that it is causing me a lot of stress when it comes to my bladder and not only that but it appears as if my endo. has come back as well. But the main thing I am concerned about is the Cystocele and what it takes to get it fixed with surgery as well as the length of time I will be in the hospital, off of work, etc... Thanks for the links, it was a lot of help! I will be asking my dr. about some of the things I have learned on this board the last week.
Thanks again!

Re: Bladder Prolapse
The best thing for you to do is to ask your doc what type of repair he's going to do, and how long is recovery etc. There are lots of surgical approaches to repair. Depends on where your defect is. Be warned that the 'usual' anterior repair done vaginally has a pretty high failure rate, and it's not unusual to have it fail within a few months.
I had an abdominal paravaginal repair with my hyst, and ten weeks later developed another 'cele. Had that repaired vaginally and 7 weeks later it failed, too. Now I'm living with it, since the symptoms aren't that awfully bad for me. When it gets bad I'm gonna try again.
The recovery for the 2nd op was like six weeks and not difficult except for the restrictions (boring!)...had a rectocele done too, though, and boy howdy, THAT hurt! But the cystocele part was okay.
Good luck to you.

Re: Bladder/Vaginal Area Prolapse
Hi again, Susan,
I did go to the dr. yesterday and she is having to do my surgery to repair my cystocele, as well as she found out yesterday that my vaginal area has fallen too. On a scale of 1-4, they are both a 2. The only thing is I don't know what she called it, also, I have to be in the hospital 2 days and home for 3-6 weeks, although, I won't be home that long, as I have to back to work much sooner than that! As soon as I locate what she said was going to do (the type of surgery) then I will post it here. Thanks again for your help, I really appreciate it! Take care.

Re: Bladder Prolapse
stvntra,
Please have a very frank discussion with your doc about going back to work too soon after repair surgery. Believe me, it can be a bad move. I went back too soon after mine and besides delaying recovery, I did injury to myself and have been paying the price ever since. And don't kid yourself as I did about 'taking it easy' at work. When you show up, you are expected - by your co-workers AND yourself - to pull your weight. You won't be saving yourself anything when you get to go back to the hospital to repair your repair.
Sumatra,
Sorry I can't help with enterocele info, but I can tell you that rectocele repair can be pretty rough. Much depends on where the defect is (low or higher up) and what the doc needs to do to repair it. You can search posts from myself, Druid, and Carmel for more details. Or PM or e-mail me anytime.
Good luck,
Susan
