What can I expect post op DaVinci

I had my pre op appt. Thursday and can't believe that I forgot to ask about how much bleeding to expect after surgery. I'm not sure how much "supplies" I should stock up on. I would love to hear from anyone that has had this procedure and what to expect as far as pain/recovery.

Re: What can I expect post op DaVinci

No bleeding except a lil spotting. I had this I have three lil scars you can barely see. You heal faster but try to remember its the same surgery inside take six weeks and rest no lifting ect. I felt so good after I did way more than I should. Good luck with surgery wil be here if needed

Re: What can I expect post op DaVinci

Thanks so much. The doctor was very vague about the recovery and I understand that everyone is different.

Re: What can I expect post op DaVinci

My doctor was vague too. This site was so helpful.

Don't let anyone including the doctor tell you the internal healing will be done in two-three weeks -- that's extremely rare and sets many of us up for a feeling of failure. The internal healing is a wild card and very important to pay attention to what you're feeling in terms of pain and energy. Gear up for six weeks of being a Princess just in case. If you don't need it -- awesome!

It seems bleeding depends on the surgery. Will you have a vaginal cuff, or will you still have your cervix? I still have my cervix and I only had two spots. I gave all my unopened sanitary products away to charity!

Re: What can I expect post op DaVinci

It takes longer than they say. I was told 2 weeks Bwahahahaha! I'm approaching 4 weeks and will go back to work 2 days next week but have arranged for all the lifting to be done by someone else.

Borrow movies from friends, get doodle art. I only needed panty liners (I have a cuff and still have a discharge). If you can set up a sitting spot outside I found it so theraputic to sit and watch the birds and squirrels, more so than usual. If you have little ones, get art activities that are easy to clean up that you can do with them for quality time cause they don't quite understand.

Most important....It takes more than 2 weeks!!! No Lifting!

Re: What can I expect post op DaVinci

I'm a redhead, and redheads are known for excessive bleeding, but I only bled just a little right after the surgery, not even enough to fill a pad, then only spotted a bit here and there if I tried to do too much for the first four weeks. I spotted nearly daily for another two weeks during the time I think the stitches were coming out and even that stopped by six weeks. Before... I was bleeding through the overnight pads every few hours for weeks at a time. But even at its worst, the spotting afterward didn't even tax a pantyliner.

Re: What can I expect post op DaVinci

I had Da Vinci a week ago. I have never had 1 spot of blood...nothing. And a far as pain goes, never had a bit of pain. Not even gas pain...it has been amazing. I can't believe how scared I was, and how simple this recovery has been.

That is so amazing -- congratulations! Just goes to show how important it is to have a lot of different stories on the site so everyone can feel 'normal'.

Re: What can I expect post op DaVinci

Wow! I just got home from work and logged on. It is great to see all of the responses! I'm not going to keep my cervix unless things look better than expected when he gets in there. I will just plan on some bleeding and if it doesn't happen then great! Thank you all for your insight!! It is comforting to hear from you all.

Wishing you all the best recovery!
