Cancerhead

I fiinished my treatment 3 or 4 weeks ago. I have my first followup appointment on Thursday. I've bee fairly relaxed up unyil last week when I got my letter saying I had an appointment this week. I have had a discharge since I finished my Brachy, which I was told at the time to expect a discharge. But now my appointment is coming up, I'm thinking maybe the discharge should not have gone on this long and what if the tumour has quickly grown back again. I had had a lower back pain for a couple of days ad thought, what if it is now in the bone. I have also had a slight cough and thought, what if it is i the lungs. Is it normal to be like this?

If you have had Brachy, did you have a discharge?

Sorry for the mad ramble...........

Re: Cancerhead

April,
Cancerhead is probably going to infiltrate our brains after diagnosis for a long time. I continue to have moments of what ifs and concerns over pains, coughs, aches, appetite, weight, every little thing. I let it come, examine it, analyze it, then tell myself I absolutly refuse to have cancer, have a reoccurrence, or let the little beasts rule my life and my thoughts. This helps me. It is what it is. I know I have no control over the cancer and it's outdo e, but I do get to have control over my day to day life and attitude and so I have to be conscientious in continuing the fight after the battle is over, in living as happy and peacefully as I can. I hope that your check up goes well and that your mind can be put at ease. I had bracytherapy and did not have discharge, but I also didn't have a cervix or a tumor there any longer and I think that the radiation treatment on intact cervix with tumor produces more discharge than otherwise. I know I will forever be nervous before scans and exams and this is normal and to be expected. Pay attention to your body and be proactive with any symptoms, but also believe you have been cured and put all your energy into positive things and positive thinking. Good luck at your appointment. I will be thinking of you.

Re: Cancerhead

Yes, everything you've described is perfectly normal which admittedly doesn't make it any less annoying. With time, cancer won't be the first thing that pops into your mind with each new symptom, I promise. Fingers crossed for a good report!

....
At 8 weeks post surgery (where I was diagnosed with Leiomyosarcoma) I had back pain I thought was simply a pulled muscle, turned out to be cancer in both lungs. Now nearing my 16 week mark I will have a chest x ray to see if the lung mets have grown. I am all ready feeling the depression, lack of concentration etc that are all labled "Cancerhead". So yeah I think its 100% normal. I can feel a new lump in my abdomen...do I think its more cancer? Probably. Could I be right? Probably. Could I be wrong? Sure. I suspect the symptoms of cancer head will grow worse and worse until my appointment on the 29th of June, and then most likely even worse as I ask about doing a CT scan or PET scan on my abdomen, and then waiting for those test results. I just have to remember to breath and take it one day at a time.
