I know you feel like a new person, but it will be easy for you to want to over do it, but from experience myself you still need a lot of time for your bladder to adjust and heal.

I am overdoing it but I'm enjoying every bit of it...my husband said tonight how pregnant I look and how my stomach reminded him of our pregnancies....he meant it in the sweetest way! but my body is paying for all this extra activity...I've been doing things everyday with my boys and it's finally starting to show.

I go back to gyno on Thursday, I'm sure he will refill pain meds and check for infections, but I know what will be in store for me so I'm totally taking advantage and pushing my body!!!!! I figured I'm going to leak no matter what I do, so I might as well have as much fun as I can

I did get some encouraging news from a new urogyno today...still need to get files released and all kinds of paperwork and referrals, but I am making some lead way to a great hospital and specialist in my area...

I am so happy you didn't have any pain when he took out the supra cath, that is the correct way to do it...did they do a cystogram on you before taking cath out? Also make sure to keep a big bandaid on the whole until it closes up, which actually only takes 2-3 days for that to happen... Its remarkable how the body works... Now your scar will look purplish but Dr. told me that was completely normal.

I will keep praying and thinking of you...If you have any questions, I'm here for you....

Good Luck sister,
Christy
2nd day of freedom, so far, so good, yesterday every sip of water i took, i had the urge to go! and felt like i had weak bladder, but that's ok, i'm free from all catheters! yay!
lol, it was so funny last night, i dozed off on couch, when i woke up, out of reflex, i tried to reach for the night bag to see if it needed emptying!! then i remembered it was gone!!
i was a little squeamish this morning about taking bandage off for first time, but it didn't look as bad as i thought it was going to, i seen a little purple that looks like a scab. the bandage is lot easier, took me half the time with whole shower process than it did, i'm feeling more back to normal again!
i now know what you mean about doing too much, i was sitting up too long this morning and could tell it, so i was a couch potato all afternoon!
the dr. did a cystogram a week ago on monday, he said he COULD take it out then, but my bladder and tubes were still swollen and he preferred to wait until yesterday.
my bladder seems to be stronger today, the urge seems to be getting back to normal, lol, but waiting 2 hours while i'm drinking water is a little lengthy!!! least today i got a stronger flow!
you said it only takes 2 or 3 days for the hole to totally heal?? that's a big hole! that would be great though!

i hope you can get with the right urologist and hospital in your area after all you've been through. i was lucky to find great one here.

let me know how you are doing and good luck!

Re: 2nd fistula repair on May 3rd, started leaking again

I went to see my Uro on Friday and they did a vaginaloscopy. It hurt so bad they had to stop! Good news is they took cath out! No infection... Yay! So I had the best weekend... NO Leaking!! I went back to work Monday 1/2 days to pay for insurance. It has been pretty good until this afternoon.. I notice slight leaking. It's not a whole lot but I still need a pad! well URO said she doesn't know what is causing all the infections. But she said my bladder is mad and she doesn't want to mess with it anymore for now. so I go back in Oct... I really hope I stop leaking.. I just think maybe my urethra is weak. They took out pic so that's great! I wonder if I wasn't leaking right after because of the inflammation? well just trying to take it Day by Day!! I'm tired of always worrying..

Re: 2nd fistula repair on May 3rd, started leaking again

So sorry to hear about your problems.

Have you tried a urologynecologist? (not sure of spelling). I have my first appt with one next week. He actually did surgery on my gyn after her hysterectomy and bladder issues. I'm hoping he can help me.

Best wishes to you -- finding the right doctor is key. Stay strong!

Hi Amie,
thank you for your prayers...I just want to tell you that there are "happy endings" to problems like ours..I want to encourage you with hope and NOT all surgeries will be "botched"LOL, that's what I call them. Please try and not be scared about your first surgery, their are a lot of women who have healed from their "FIRST" surgery and are living healthy lives...I can't imagine how you must of been dealing with no medical care for a year...you are a very strong woman. My heart goes out to you.. I wish you the best and if you need to talk or vent or just have some encourage, we all are here for you..
Blessings and prayers to you, please keep us posted on your recovery..
Hugs

Re: 2nd fistula repair on May 3rd, started leaking again

Well I went to gyno yesterday to have a followup and give another urine sample to make sure I am infection free...well I find out I've had a staph infection MRSA since June 26th...I was so shocked! I know I haven't been feeling well but I just thought I was overdoing it, trying to give my kids some type of a normal summer...The gyno said he didn't call me because he prescribed an antibiotic that would fight the staph infection, but he only prescribed one week of it for me, so I've been off of it for a complete week...Now I'm on a stronger antibiotic and if this doesn't work, next I will have to have an introvaneously (sp?) antibiotic... I will admit I am really freaked out about this...I know that this is very contagious and MY KIDS! But since the culture came from bladder and I have no open wounds, I can't transmit this to my children (this is what my dr. is telling me)..But of course as a Mom I'm still freaking out!!! Plus, I start dealing with the insurance companies, trying to get my HMO switched over to get into this reputable hospital where they have the specialists I need and they tell me I don't qualify for the change...

My gyno said yesterday, he will do whatever is necessary to get me into this hospital and to get me into seeing these specialist..I am feeling awful today...adjusting to antibiotic and stress and just feeling weak...this infection explains why I've had no energy..

I just want to be fixed and have other issues to deal with..I'm so done with this "never-ending" story of my life. My husband is freaking out and trying to be supportive but for the first time during all of this i could tell he is frightened and he has been my ROCK, along with the Lord of course.

My sister works for a HUGE law firm for our State and I've contacted her to get advice on this insurance issue....I've got names and numbers of people to call... BUT I'm done for today, I'm exhausted and I just simply can't do anymore... for today.

thank you guys for listening!

Hugs,
Christy

christy,
OUCH! i would tend to believe your dr. though , i don't see how it could affect your kids if it originated in your bladder, so don't worry about that. (i know, easier said than done)
i hope this other antibiotic works for you!

i'll be praying for you. keep me posted.

i'm still leak free!
