I'm confused.....

My dr told me in November that my uterus was five times it's normal size and my uterus was covered inside and out with them. I also had a cyst in my ovary. I was in a lot of pain and then two days before Thanksgiving, it ruptured. I still had pain and my dr said it would feel better within a few weeks. She did tell me at my appt that if things didn't get better, come back in and we would talk about the next step, which would be a hysterectomy.

I went to see her last week and I am still having pain. I hate taking the pain meds due to how they make me feel. She did an exam and had changed her tune about about having a hysterectomy. I go back today for an ultrasound and then a consult with her.

I am confused. I am tried of being in pain, having irregular periods, and then having the heavy bleeding when I do have my periods.

What should I do today? Has anyone had a dr change their mind?

My first question is, is this appt. With your MD or with an OBGYN?
If its your MD, ask to be referred to an OBGYN.
If this is your OBGYN, I would express your want NOT to be in pain and subsequently not on pain medication and to ask for your options.
Good luck today!

Re: I'm confused.....

Oh yeah!! In Feburary, my doctor wanted me to consider a hysterectomy, but it was really bad timing for a multiple of reasons. Did research and collected opinions and went back in May ready to discuss the hysterectomy and then she was conflicted due to my age, only 38 and with no children wanted to do all possible to save the chance. Wanted to try one more thing and possibly send to another doctor for another option. Messing with my mind. Am going back the end of this month because having side effects from the Depo shot (practically daily headaches, migraines, pelvic ache, acne, and increased appetite) some that I am not willing to deal with. Am going to say either put me back on my original BCP and will just deal with the spotting and cramping, better than the other side effects, or let's just permenatnly fix this!! Understand perfectly!! My advice, be upfront with your doctor, tell them that you are tired of this and want something that works. Maybe there is something else that they are considering that they think will work. Make sure they tell you everything. I love my doctor, but wouldnt have done the shot if I knew the potential side effects since I already have a susceptibility to headaches and migraines. Make sure you have all the information you need to make the best decision for YOU.

Re: I'm confused.....

Sorry, the last few days have been rough.

My dr is a ob/gym. I finally was able to go today. My uterus has shrunken To almost normal. It makes me Nader if the previous tech read it wrong? I mean how does one shrink?

Anyway, one fibroid is almost 4 cm and at the top of the uterus plus I have some type of cysts in my cervix. I go for a biopsy next week then if it's ok, she will do the cryoablation (her option) therapy.

Then if that doesn't work, we will go to the hysterectomy.

Has anyone had the cryoblation done before?

Re: I'm confused.....

Have you explored Fibroid Embolization? Where they cut off the blood supply from the fibroids causing them to shrink and stop causing so much trouble?
