LAVH- I really worried over nothing :)
I had my LAVH on 5/24. Leading up to the surgery I had daily panic that it would be awful. I am here to tell you, that for me the whole thing has been no big deal!
I checked in at 6:00 for 7:30am surgery and was immediately taken back to pre-op holding. My husband was able to comeback with me and stayed there until they took me into surgery at 7:15. Two and half hours later I woke up in recovery and it was intense for a bit. They gave me plenty of injected pain killers and I was comfortable. I asked for the catheter to be removed and it was. This was a bit of a mistake because my bladder was in shock and I couldnt urinate. Three hours later I was in my room and they had to in and out catheter me...what relief! 5 hours later I was peeing normally. I had an uneventful night and only had oral painkillers (Vicodin) and was released from the castle on 5/25 around 11:00.
The first day home I slept on and off all day and took the vicodin even though I didnt really need them...
No pain pills since then!!
I went back to work on 5/30 (5 days later), I'm an accountant so its not a very taxing job (haha) and had NO Problems. I felt a little worn out and was relieved that my husband drove me, for the first couple of days. I live in So. Cal so its an hour in traffic each way to go a lousy 20 miles. I worked 8 hours that day and every day since. I feel completely normal now (3 weeks out). I am here to tell you its not so bad. I felt worse after having a tooth pulled than after my surgery. From the time I got home, other than being a little sensitive, no real pain to speak of.
I know everyone is different, and seriously, I am a whiny wimp about pain, but really, other than not having normal energy levels, I felt like I always do.
The only complaint I have is that the side seams in PJ's really annoy me, when I lay on my side, its like I am laying on a piece of wood or something. I finally ended up sleeping in a Men's T-shirt which has no seems. I have no idea what this about but it persists to this day (3 weeks later).
Good Luck and I hope everyone is doing well!
