Did you get anything special for yourself pre-op?

Just curious if anyone else is getting themselves something special during this pre-op waiting time. Not a ton of extra money laying around since even with insurance this surgery is costing $$. Tonight I found light weight short non-slip socks (pink) and a matching lightweight robe. I read on this site that a robe is nice to have at the "castle" for when you need to take your mini-walks in the hospital hallway. I didn't have a lightweight one, so I found a pretty pink one while shopping this evening. I'm thinking of finding some nice new scent of lotion too.

Best wishes to everyone as we wait (and wait).

waiting is the hardest part! I bought myself a really pretty, yet modest nightie to wear post op. It was expensive (most of my nighties come from Walmart or Old Navy) so this was a big splurge. I knew I wouldn't feel pretty post op, so it was important to me to have something pretty to wear.

Good luck for a safe surgery and quick recovery!

Some slipper socks because the ones the hospital give you are AWFUL, a couple pairs of new jammie shorts and capris, and a couple of super comfy skirts. I realized that I pretty much have no knit or elastic waisted clothing for the lower half that would be summer appropriate.

I got myself some nighties for hospital. Just cheap ones so I can toss them when it is all over. They are cute though. I am not a nightie girl, much prefer pjs. I did splurge a few weeks ago and got a gorgeous dressing gown. It's winter here so I will be wanting something warm both in hospital and out. It is so soft and fluffy. I also invested in some nice lip balm. I got really dry peeling lips when I had my fibroids removed a few years ago.

I bought myself some "gourmet" tea for my hospital stay. Also a new pair of comfy slippers.

I splurged on some iPad games and Amazon kindle books for iPads. Didn't want to carry a whole lot and wanted something to do that I wouldn't have to worry about falling asleep in the middle of. LOL, go Smurf Village!

Re: Did you get anything special for yourself pre-op?

I bought some new pillows today - for some reason I can flatten a pillow within 2 or 3 nights of sleeping on them and they never re-fluff. So I got a new set today and will save them till I come home. I also found a lightweight robe and got a few nightshirts, some with fun sayings on them. I've bought a few extra books for my Kindle, and just picked up an update for one of my favorite time killing computer games. I haven't gotten all of this at once, I've had my surgery scheduled since the end of May, so each payday I pick up something - as each of the things I listed really wasn't that pricey on their own. It's easier to deal with spending small amounts of money a couple times than a big lump payment.

I splurged on a 1.5 hour stone massage morning before the surgery day.....ahhhhh, it was great.

I have been picking up little things since I found out I would be scheduling surgery. I got myself a few new nighties, a robe and a few pairs of sweat capris to accommodate my anticipated swelly belly! I also bought myself this neat heating pad. Now I am just waiting patiently for Tuesday morning!

Re: Did you get anything special for yourself pre-op?

I read alot and finally got myself a kindle to have plenty to read while recooperating in a small space and easy to carry around. I'm glad I got it. I am beginning to see that I may need to start wearing dresses to work when I go back so may try to find some inexpensive ones for work.
