The worst part is telling my husband as I just know I will be facing into a lecture - I know he is concerned about me but in this case I have to do what I feel is right for me and not what others think I should do - thanks again!
Hi Ashkel,

Glad you are feeling patient with yourself and able to wait if you feel you need to. Best of wishes to you over the next few weeks!

Re: Should I cancel if I am not sure?

I was scheduled for a hyster in December and panicked and backed out. My family and friends were confused, but supportive. I rescheduled for March a few months later and then got pushed back 6 weeks due to a cold.

If you browse through the site you'll see a lot of us canceled, and then rescheduled. It's not that uncommon at all.

Re: Should I cancel if I am not sure?

I just had a hyst due to fibroids as well. And i was having no pain and no heavy periods. I was 2nd guessing everything as well. But my Dr explained to me the fibroids can sometimes attach onto your bowel or other organs and start getting their blood supply from there and cause a lot more problems. I was also very anemic. So Iwent ahead and had the hyst, very apprehensive I might add. But it has been great! No pain, no gas pains, no loss of energy..I feel really good. I woke up in my hopital room with no pain at all. Was released the next day with no pain, went to a hotel and walked around outside several times over the next couple days. Then made a 3 hr long car trip. Within 1 week post op I was shopping driving, and gardening and cleaning my patio. I am just very careful not to lift anything at all. Im 2 weeks post op now and I still havent lifted anything heavier than the tv remote. I hear most women hurt themselves with lifting and bending, so I am avoiding these all together. Talk to your Dr and if need be get a 2nd or even 3rd opinion. I love my OB gyn, I have been with her 20+ years, but I didnt let her do the surgery. I wasnt comfortable with the way she was going to do it, I traveled 3 hrs away and found a Dr I was very comfortable with and it was a God send!
