Nightgown?

My TLH will be an outpatient procedure, but I most likely won't be released until late afternoon or early evening. Do you think I'd be allowed to wear a nightgown of my own (after the surgery, of course.)

If they're going to have me up and walking the halls, I'd just as soon not be wearing a hospital gown and I don't really have a decent robe.

Re: Nightgown?

I was required to wear a hospital gown. I used a second gown worn with the opening in front as a robe.

Re: Nightgown?

My hospital let me wear anything I was comfortable in. I was on a heart monitor for 24 hours and didn't have to worry about walking in the halls. I kept the hospital gown on while in bed. Made it easier to just pull it up everytime someone wanted to check me. Plus I was still bleeding a bit and wasn't about to get blood and other icky stuff on MY clothes! I showered when I was finally let out of bed to wash all the dried blood, antiseptic and who-knows-what off. I did feel so much better after changing.

Re: Nightgown?

I am going to fight for my own clothing. Lol. I can handle the gowns briefly but if I'm not comfortable in the clothing I am wearing I just can't relax.

Re: Nightgown?

By all means do so! If it wasn't for all the machines I was hooked up to, I would have changed within hours of surgery. Felt like an alien specimen with all those tubes and thingies hissing and bleeping away LOL

Just an FYI--you won't be able to move around in bed a whole lot, so if you don't like pjs bunched up under you, I'd re-think the nightgown thing. I was uncomfortable enough in the hospital gown! When I got home, I did a sports bra and my undies (and binder) for the whole first week in bed, and just kept a robe and then a light cotton dress nearby for when I got up.

Re: Nightgown?

They may not let you becuase of all the wires and tubing. I had the boots on the pumped up, heart monitor briefly after covery, and IV lines. Just no way all of that could be accessed with regular pj's.
