Over Doing it at 7wks?!?

I can't believe you can over do it at 7 wks! Obviously I did. Last Friday marked 6 wks (yea!). My husband made me stay home Mon-Wed. Thursday I went shopping all day long....had a great time too, until the evening. The sore & mild cramping wasn't too bad, nothing a couple of ib's couldn't take care of.

Friday (the next day) I went out again (7wk mark). I was out 2 hours and felt totally spent...I didn't feel like I could take another step in the store and asked my daughter to get a wheelchair!

This at 7 wks!!

After sitting for a lil' bit, I felt a lil' bit better, all my shopping wasn't done so I went to another store, this time using the wheelchair. We were there no more than 30 minutes and I was done! I was hurting eveywhere! My legs, my feet, my hips, my pelvis was sore & throbbing w/pain!

I wanted my pain pills (thank God I still have some!), ibu's, a heating pad and my bed. The thought of having to drive all the way home brought me to tears.

I couldn't believe it....after 7 wks?

Today is Saturday, 3 days since the Thursday shopping incident and I'm in bed...just took 1/2 a norco, a 600 mg ibu and I have the heating pad on me.

I don't feel I pulled anything or that anything is seriouly wrong with me. But this is getting ridiculous & makes me angry & makes me want to cry out of frustration. I was up a couple of hours today, did nothing but cook (chop, dice, etc.) & now I'm in bed for the rest of the day?

My concern: Monday I go back to work. I think I may ask my boss for a couple more days off. I can't call my dr. He really made me feel stupid the last time I spoke to him (told him i was still experieincing pain, etc. & he said "there's nothing more we can do for you.".....so I don't think he'll be sympathetic. Anyway...thanks for listening ladies. This forum has been a lifesaver.

Re: Over Doing it at 7wks?!?

If your needing narcotic pain killers for pain you should check in with your doctor. That type of pain isn't normal. I am a slow healer, still have soreness and aches If I over do it, but it is not the kind of pain requiring prescriptions. Listen to your body and don't over do things. My doctor told me to slowly ease into my normal activities and to stop if I felt any soreness or discomfort. Good luck, and keep us posted!

Re: Over Doing it at 7wks?!?

I completely relate to what you're feeling. I was told pre-op the 'average' recovery is 3 weeks for my procedure (uterus, cervix, tubes, via DaVinci) and at 4 weeks I can't do nearly as much as I used to. I can't sit upright in a chair for very long without feeling uncomfortable. I can't walk to drive without the same uncomfort. Yesterday was the last day for my kids at school and I walked all over campus and up and down stairs for an hour and a half. I felt greats all day. Today...not so much. I'm very swollen, had to take more ib's and had to take a nap. . I wish I was my old self. One positive, today is the first day I haven't had spotting since the surgery.

Take care!

Re: Over Doing it at 7wks?!?

I spoke to my WONDERFUL boss and she's given me the extra time off (dr. said he couldn't/wouldn't authorize it as I "shouldn't be experiencing anything that would keep from work" PHOOEY!! I asked my boss for a couple extra days...asked if I could come in Wednesday (I'm supposed to come in tomorrow, Monday) and she said to take whatever time I needed, not to rush anything. Wow - thank you Boss Lady. I really am blessed.

I do have another question but I think I'll start a thread and see what kind of feedback I get. Seems when I've been up for a while, and this happened when I went shopping, I get sore IN my vagina. Almost feels like, well, like having sex the first time (and i haven't since the surgery). Anybody else experience this? That's where I'll apply either the ice or the heating pad. I don't know what to make of this. I did experience this before my check up and when the dr. examined me he said everything looked great. I don't get it. (I'll post a new thread & ask the same question).

P.S: I suppose if I had a better relationship with my doctor, I would call and ask but since the last time I called him (& he sounded exasperated at my questions, to the point he mocked me), I can't call him. I just can't.

Re: Over Doing it at 7wks?!?

I think what your feeling is normal, it was for me. It takes 6 months to a year to be fully healed. When our doctors say " everything is great" I don;'t think they mean we are as good as before surgery, I think they mean we are in good shape for our stage of recovery. Be patient with yourself!! I'm 10 weeks post op and aside from a little soreness now and then and swelly belly, I'm much better than I was 2 seeks ago!

Re: Over Doing it at 7wks?!?

I think your Dr is mean and awful! I'll be at the 5 week mark tomorrow, and I am still having plenty of down days where I am tired and don't have much energy. I can't imagine going back to a day job in a week! The thought would have me in tears! I think even in 2 weeks if I spent a day shopping I would feel exactly as you do. Hang in there. Believe me, I know how frustrating it is not to feel like your old self. At this point I think I'm never going to, but I know I will in time. Thankfully I do not have a day job, staying at home with the kids is enough for me, but I would encourage to take it as slowly as you can for as long as you can. It can't hurt! Oh, yes, and get a new Dr. You don't need to deal with him ever again! Good luck!

The vaginal soreness, could be that when you are up and around you are "tightening" and not realizing it. Like a kegel. I found myself doing that when i went shopping and was pretty sore afterwards.
