Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jun 18-Jun 24,2012

Hi All

It has been a few busy days since I last checked in. I worked last week and was exhausted by the end. Then went to pick up my 3 yr old from daycare to find that she had cut off half of her hair! (6.5 ponytail ringlets out of 10 - cut almost at the root). I had a total meltdown! I had to cut the rest yesterday myself to at least make it look somewhat intentional before it grows back! {{big cry}} Logically I know it is only hair and it will grow back, but the ringlets were over 3 inches long each...

Physically I am fine, other than tired. But I am struggling with feeling down and extra extra large. I am already large so adding the belly is making me feel even worse. I did get a couple of new things so I can be comfortable heading to grandma's funeral next week but still feel crummy. It's like all my self-confidence got sucked out with my uterus! Do you think they will notice if I don't show up to deliver the eulogy? Add my DD's hair and I think I will drive in the other direction.

Sorry for the venting and pity party - was up most of the night trying to tell myself everything is fine and not quite convincing myself. Good thing Aunt Flo seems to be on a permanent vacation - cuz some of the new clothes I bought were white!

I too have cried over totally irrational stuff off and on through this whole six weeks. Sometimes it was something simple and stupid that set me off or nothing at all that I could pin point...so don't feel bad.

Hang in there.

Sorry for your loss.

Yay I feel like I am finally healing. The stitches are coming out like crazy all of a sudden. Some of the pain seems to have disappeared too. I hope you are all doing well. (((hugs)))

Rover Sorry for your loss. Don't be too hard on yourself. You are going thru a lot and your daughter's hair was just the topper.

Weekend was decent though I wish it had rained more. My best guy friend and I were going to go to dinner and movie but he had to work. Even though we knew he may have to work, I was still a little bummed. Trying to get back into some type of exercise routine, without crunches. I have this Friday off and thinking about getting hair done. Now that I can travel again, my job is planning on sending me to Laredo. Yep, I guess my life is starting to see some normalcy again.

Rundown of things that are lingering since surgery.
-I find myself bawling at sad things in commercials, movies and TV shows.
-Swelly belly, especially at end of work day. So glad to remove jeans when I get home from work!
-Dissolvable stitches still dissolving
-Belly button incision being a slow healer. Stitch sticking out slightly on one side
-I get cold easier then pre surgery
-allergies seem worse since surgery but that could be a coincidence
-Overeating causes pain where it weighs heavy in abdomen. This I don't mind. It is a good reminder not to overeat.

Saying prayers for you Capebound! I thought maybe your doctor would have given you more time off due to the follow up surgery you had.

Oh the horror for you, Rover! Our kids do weird things sometimes. Been there with both daughters, fortunately now grown up. At least she is too young to go out and get a tattoo- like my 23 year old- on her wrist... a bat.
I have had some good days minus a nap to get me through. I went out in my little car to do some errands today and yesterday we had our grand daughter and her 'batty' mother over all afternoon. I still can't and won't (obeying my doctor's advice to listen to my body) pick baby girl up straight from the floor but when I sat with her and crawled after Miss No Diaper Change Please! I was alright pulling her over and sitting her on my knee. Bit tired and sore at bed time but nothing awful. I feel like I am sooo much better since last week!
One of my errands today was to go to the physiotherapist place I went to when I injured my shoulder a while back. They have pilates classes and private sessions. I am thinking about having a few sessions just to build up my muscles again. What I can't work out is how I look and feel like I've lost weight- not just TheBelly! but the weighing scales say well actually you weigh 2 kgs more! I mean I know I have less thigh blubber as I can feel more material on each pants leg! Curious... My legs can't have wasted away too much sitting on the sofa. If anything the blubber would have spread from all the cake...
Onto other matters... my mind is now made up to ravish my unsuspecting DH in the near future. There will never be a perfect moment if I over think it and look at myself with horror in the mirror. Maybe I have reverse anorexia but I think I look pretty d..n good at the moment!

Glad to hear people are improving. I've actually managed to start some exercise. Did a swim session and have been out for two very slow walk/jog. So pleased, as thought it would take much longer to get some fitness in. Exercise not tok bad but I'm so tired after it that usually end up napping all afternoon! Have a few weeks before need to go back to work so making the most of it. Hugs to all x

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jul 16-Jul 22,2012

My hysterectomy was June 20th 2012. I also had rectocele repair and bladder lift. I was not having al ot of issues EXCEPT my cervix had prolapsed during my last pregnancy in 2001. So I had just dealt with that but it started to protrude outside the vagina more and was a huge bother! I can't believe I put up with it this long.
I started having migraines every 4-5 weeks and hot flashes at age 46 but since I had an IUD since the birth of our last child I did not have periods. My Mom passed away from colon cancer on June 3 2008 and I went through terrible depression. I visited my CN/P and finally agreed to take an anti-depressant which helped so much. She encouraged me to try the bio indentical hormone replacement therapy at that time but I resisted.
About 2 weeks after my hysterectomy I felt terrible. I cried, screamed, had mean thoughts etc. I knew it was time. Now, with both ovaries gone I need some hormones! The hormone replacement was the 2nd best decision I ever made! I feel soooo good! Happy Energetic & Emotionally Stable. My GYN also did a nip tuck on my vagina making it tighter.
I followed all the advice here from my sisters and waited 6 weeks and four days before having sex. The hormones had increased my libido incredibly and I experienced no vaginal dryness. Just let me say my new vagina is awesome and my husband and I are extremely happy with the results! I am so sorry I waited so long!
I still take the anti depressant but may be able to stop soon. Also, I have not had a headache in 10 weeks !!
I do need to ask my hystersisters if anyone out there has a left bundle branch block? They found this when they did my pre-op EKG. I am a bit worried about why I have this. I hope one of you have or know more about this heart condition. Thank you all for your comments and testimonies!
