I'll have to try that tomorrow. My BP tends to run low all the time. I just talked to the surgeon and they called in Ultram. I really think the gas pain is the worse part for me right now. Really feel like I need to have a BM but every time I try it's just gas and then I feel better for about 5 mins.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jun 18-Jun 24,2012
It sounds like everyone is doing well. I did use GasX and lots of walking and drinking water in the hospital to help with the gas pain. GasX works wonders. I started a stool softner when I was released and home. It took about a 12 hours to work, but I also have drank lots of water, and added certain types of "healthy" fiber to my diet.
I did got out to dinner and a movie tonight. I stayed home and rested all day to be able to go out and celebrate my daughter's birthday. So far so good. I did come home and put my feet up and now am relaxing with my heating pad soothing my achy back.
I think back and I was so tired of dragging myself around and feeling constantly bloated I can't believe the difference. My mother in law stopped in today and told me I look like I haven't even been through surgery. Than I wonder wow I must have looked bedraggled and worn out.
I have not weighed myself, because I wanted to wait a week to get more walking in.
Hang in there ladies! This website has given me so much great advice!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jun 18-Jun 24,2012
hello all,
i had my hysterectomy june 19th and went home the 20th, i seem to be recovering well and actually got out of the house today to sit (in the shade) at the pool so the kids could get out of the house. i am not in very much pain i just sleep a lot, i am starting to go stir crazy as i watch from the couch the housework building up, i am double whammied as i had surgery on my foot a few days before the hysterectomy so i can't get up and walk as often but i am getting around ok and at this point the foot hurts worse than my belly thanks for the encouragement this site provides

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jun 18-Jun 24,2012
im five days out I had my surgery on the 19th. im still sore and not moving smoothly yet. i get wore out fast. my surgery went well I had 8 fibroids removed and 1 cyst. I kept both my ovaries and have lost 15 pounds of extra weigh I was carrying around. Urination is still hard there is pain and pressure when i need to go and having a BM is very rough but I am using stool softeners and a nonstimulant laxitive to help move things along. what bothers me the most is when my pain meds start to wear off and I can feel a throbbing inside it just doesnt feel right. But I am not bleeding and I am trying very hard not to over do my moving around. I have noticed dry patched on my face and I dont know if that is normal since I have always had oily skin. Atleast I think its a dry patch my nose feels like it wants to peel but isnt burned. My husband is being really supportive and makes sure I am properly caring for myself he will be at home with me another week before going back to work I am really blessed he is here with me.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jun 18-Jun 24,2012
I've started using my heating pad the same night. It's my best bud.
It's sounds like I am dealing with pretty much the same issues as everyone else - gas, swelly belly, exhausted, ect. I've been doing a lot of resting today. Brain fog is awful and my lack of any decent sleep in decent stretches has finally caught up to me. I took two three hr naps today. I have found that I am needing less pain meds which is nice so now I don't have to wake up to alarms around the clock to medicate anymore. Swelly belly has also gone down a bit. I still really struggle to get comfortable but it is getting easier. I did finally have two small bowel movements today and while it was "easy" thanks to stool softeners and three prunes yesterday it was exhausting. I do have to admit that I am not missing my absent aunt Flo right now
