So afraid of another prolaps 4 months after my repair.
I had a total hysterectomy, a bladder sling and cystocele repair 4 months ago. I took good care of myself, no lifting, straining or pushing. I started back at the gym at 11 weeks post op. Started gym classes 2 times a week, and now after 2-3 weeks I feel like a pressure and discomfort standing up, like before. I am so afraid that I have over done it in the gym. No weights. But abs, squats, might have done it. The Dr. did not tell me what else I could not do there. I will see my Dr. tomorrow. Not ready to go back for another repair, with everything which comes with it. I think the Dr. should tell us what we are safe doing in the gym. Not so general, like, its ok to go to the gym. I have now, after much research found a great book which has so much information for us, going through pelvice prolaps repair, the doctors should have it and learn from it, this is it: Inside Out by Michelle Kenway. You can also watch on Youtube. I will find out tomorrow, what is happening to me.

Re: So afraid of another prolaps 4 months after my repair.
Good Luck tomorrow with the Doc. Hope no prolaps, hoping for just sore internal muscles and swelling. I am scared of the same thing. I wonder if I will ever go back to the gym or run. Just had my 6 week check. I have been instructed NO abd work, nor anything like leg press or lifts. I can walk not run, and only arm workouts. I can swim and bike so I might try these things. I am really scared to do anything, but I feel I am getting fatter and more lazy. I sure hope the best for you.

Hopefully you are just experiencing swelling from the activity. Let us know how you are.

Re: So afraid of another prolaps 4 months after my repair.
Got back from my Dr. and my repair is healing fine. But I have a grade 2 rectocele, which the Dr. said was there, but now I am feeling it more since my bladder was fixed. I had 2 Drs. doing the surgeries, and the other one thought it would be too much to do both rectocele and cystocele at the same time, with my total hysterectomy. But I am going to work on this with excersise, and estrogen cream. And take better care in the gym class, no squats, ever. I also am going to get this book for pelvice floor recovery:
Inside Out, by Michelle Kenway, its sold on Amazon.com. Lokks like a very good information. So I guess I should say, I am lucky, that I did not have a problem with my repair.

Glad you got some answers. Are they going to refer you to pelvic floor PT?

I am going to see if my insurance will allow it. I think there is a lot to learn for me. I dont want any more surgeries for now.

Re: So afraid of another prolaps 4 months after my repair.
Hi Gunna,
I have a similar situation to you. I had a hystetectomy and cystocele repair 10 weeks ago and still feel discomfort when standing. Just got back from my PT and she said I am healing nicely but do have a posterior bulge. She wants me to do more pelvic floor work standing up.
Did your doctor say that more pelvic floor work would fix the problem? I'm at my wits end with all of this. I thought surgery was suppose to fix all this I am feeling really down and like my life is on hold. Sorry just had to let off steam a bit.
I hope your discomfort ends soon.

Re: So afraid of another prolaps 4 months after my repair.
Hi isabellamason, I am doing the Kiegel excersises, and reading more about pelvice floor health. There are many things I did not know. I am feeling a little better. I also use estrogen vaginal cream every day, for healing. There are many good videos on Youtube. Look these up also: Biomechanic Pt., First Aid for Prolaps, by Christina Kents, and PFilates. I thought it would be better to do the excersises laying down or sitting, to take the pressure off, from standing up. But best to go by what your Dr. tells you. Hope you feel better and get stronger.
