What exactly does "pelvic rest" mean?

What exactly does "pelvic rest" mean?

I know nothing goes in the vagina. Okay, that makes sense.

But what about masturbation? I couldn't wait and went for it last week at least three times, but then I found this site and read that it was a no no. My doctor didn't mention it, so I thought it was okay. (She seems uncomfy talking about sex though which disappoints me and makes me hesitate to ask her more questions than I already have about it.)

Thanks!

Re: What exactly does "pelvic rest" mean?

I was told pelvic rests means exactly that..nothing in the vagina and no orgasms at all. No tub baths, nothing that has anything to do with the vagina! Sorry

Re: What exactly does "pelvic rest" mean?

Pelvic rest means no orgasm, no Kegals, nothing in the vagina, no lifting...pretty much nothing that engages the pelvic floor. My orders were complete pelvic rest for 2 weeks, then nothing in the vagina, no lifting and no bathing for another 6 weeks.

Re: What exactly does "pelvic rest" mean?

I actually asked my doc about Kegals because I was having issues peeing with sufficient force. She asked if I'd ever had trouble with incontinence (I haven't) and asked why I'd want to do Kegals at all. (?!) I told her I do them all the time (doesn't everyone?) She didn't tell me not to do them though - and I called her on about day 4.

Oh well. I'll ask her tomorrow at my appointment just to clarify. It seems like I have to do a lot of work to get answers to things I think she should have just told me - like on a checklist - as a matter of course.
