ongoing radiation treatment...some qs

Currently undergoing 1st week of radiation (external) for a reoccurrence of uterine papillary cancer.

A catheter is plugged into urethra due to incontinence, but there is some watery discharge and wets clothes. Does vagina leak water?

A few other questions: Does anyone here take any supplement to help with radiation treatment?

I read in Beating Nutrition with Cancer, that shark liver oil is supposed to be good. Anyone take this?

Also, Chemo has been suggested (ciplastin), but getting the shivers here.

Has anyone tried IPT - insulin potentiated therapy which is low dose chemo?

Please pray for your sister Renu...Thanks

Re: ongoing radiation treatment...some qs

I had a vaginal discharge whilst i was having radiotherapy. I ended up having to wear a pad all the time.

I didn't take any suppliments, as my dr said he would prescribe what he thought I needed.

I was on Cisplatin durig the time I was having radiotherapy.

I haven't heard of IPT.

Ask any further questions you need, please.

Re: ongoing radiation treatment...some qs

Hi sisRenu,
I am so sorry you have had a recurrence. I did EBRT and did not take any supplements other than a multivitamin and L-Glutamine. I also did weekly cisplatin during radiation. It was low dose as it is given weekly to sensitize cells to radiation. It was not IPT. IPT is highly debated and from what I have read can be quite dangerous. I would strongly consider getting a few opinions from medical professionals on this subject. very few places in the US offer this treatment. Good luck to you. I hope you are feeling well and this treatment knocks the cancer to the curb.
