Da Vinci total hysterectomy 5 days post op

This site is so helpful!! I hope someone will read something on here that helps them like I did!

I am 55 and had a total hysterectomy five days ago using the Da Vinci robot. I had everything removed. The whole procss has gone like clock work, and I am so very grateful. I did spend the night in the hospital. I was hit with a couple of rounds of nausea after I got to my room. It happend when I took a couple of pain pills on a very, very empty stomach. Oh my! The first medicine they gave me helped a little, but not completely. They gave me something more in my IV and it zonked me out for awhile, but it was fairly smooth sailing after that. In fact I rested really well that night.

I am slowly tapering off the lortab and using only Advil. That took a couple of days, though. And I am not quite there yet, but close. The pain has mostly felt like cramps with very sore muscles like I did way too many sit-ups.

I was able to pee on my own about six hours after surgery. The rest of the plumbing took three days to kick in, and I have to work a bit at it, but it is all slowly returing to normal...not there yet. My incisions are not really sore at all. It is the lower ab area that is so sore.

Best wishes to all. Not sure yet what I will do about HRT. My doc said every woman is different so it is difficult to predict. Maybe I will be as lucky with that as I have been through the surgery experience!
