TAH-day 9 and counting
Hello Ladies...I had an entire garden of fibroid tumors. On the inside one was the size of a lemon another the size of a lime and all around the outside little mushrooms. 3 months ago I landed in the hospital due to sever bleeding. My decision was easy for me and luckily my OBGYN was also my surgeon.
My surgery was on June 15 and went well. It turns out the anestesia and I do not get along so well. I woke up quickly but then my heart was beating faster than they wanted. It was also my first surgery, so I was probably a tad freaked out, the recovery room was hot and very noisy. 4 hours later I finally got to my hospital room.
The anestesia made me nauseous (even with anti nausea meds) and so did the morphine (got of that the next day). Had some water, jello a sip of broth and it all came back up and all over my gown (awesome!) At 11pm there was a nurse shift change. My new nurse was Adonis! A Greek god? Oh wouldn't that have been nice. Not the case. He decided to take my vitals every 30 minutes. I have 'white coat syndrome' so this is not a good thing. Pulse started right back up. So at 2am the called the EKG guy. Great another strange man gets to see my boobs. He said "Her heart is fine she is having a panic attack it is almost 3am she has had no rest leave her alone" I was with him! Go away and let me sleep. By morning things had settled down but I was ready to get out of there. They told me my goals and I was off.
Catheter out. Did a loop around the nurses station and found out my IV pole had a bad wheel. IV had to go as well and was out by the afternoon. Managed a few bites of solid food. Next morning I was sprung. WooHoo!
Lack of bowel movement has been my biggest problem (started stool softeners too late). I ended up taking a supository on day 6 (please consult your doctor before doing this...it is like vomiting only down there and you kind of have no control). It worked and now the train is moving although not exactly normal but it is moving!
Thankfully I haven't been in too much pain and am only taking 600mg of Ibuprophin a day. I put a cold pack on my belly while watching TV. My internal stitches have been bothering me today and I had a little spotting, which my doctors said could happen, so I am not freaking out, perhaps I did too much yesterday and today.
I have to say any time I do a search on google...it doesn't even need to include hysterectomy...HysterSister always pop up near the top if not first. It is nice to know that I am not the only one who is going through this.
