Try leaning forward a bit when you go, too. That may help empty it quicker.
Can I ask question please. I also had a very enlarged uterus, in fact, twice the size of normal and 8 fibroids. They did leave 1 ovary in and I should be watching the pain. They don't want anything to happen to other one or I'll have to go back into surgery. I have a hard time going to the bathroom. Once I know I have to pee, I get this stabbing pain in my lower area and it hurts so much to use my muscles to go. Any suggestions for that?

Even with doctor's permission, please don't drive while you are still taking pain medications. Doing so puts you and anyone in your path at risk. Hope you can get someone else to feed the cats until you are able to.

This may sound crazy but I am having the dame issues going pee it is a stabbing pain really low in my groin. So what I started doing is Lamaze breathing and relaxation. It doesn't stop the pain but it refocuses and relaxes me so I can finish. I had everything taken out but my right ovary and it's been almost 2 weeks since my surgery. Mine was also abdominal. I hope it helps!! Good luck to you on a speedy recovery!!

Dear Madison,

This would be a good question to ask in our PostOp forum. Start a new thread there, and your post will be seen by many more members than those who post on this thread. You might also want to run this by your doctor to see what s/he says. Hope you feel better soon.

Hello Madison. I just had my uterus removed and left everything else. I had lots of trouble like you mentioned with each fibroid surgery and now with this one. They are testing me for a uti infection. Please check with your doc. In my other surgeries, I had to mainly tough it out or pain management as it is part of the tender area that must heal. My other doc gave me pain pills or ibuprofen to assist. I don't like taking meds. I wish I had more to share but I am right there with you. If I don't have a uti, it must be part of the sensitive nature of healing. Also, try to take GasX because the areas are so close that pains can contribute. This helped me. Drink lots of water with lemon and drink cranberry juice just in case. It is so painful. I even hurt for a while after. I get relief by laying my hands over the area for warmth. Take care and also check out the other area mentioned.

One more note: I envy the women who share stories about their caregiving hubbys! Not all men are programmed to handle and support this type of thing. Mine did the bare minimum. I was doing much of my usual things, including taking care of my meal issues day3. My blood pressure was so high at my post op appt due to doc running late and having to listen to my husband rant. It makes one feel pretty helpless to be stuck with that. I'm so thankful I had the Lap to remove uterus; I need to be independent! So, girls hug them men and for those dealing with some issues or alone --- you're not alone hugs!

In my post op, that is what the PA said, the fatigue will hit you hard, especially in my condition, I am use to traveling 100 miles an hr. I have a very stressful job and she said really that it takes 6 weeks before you're about to concentrate on anything. So she told me not to get discouraged. I get up and walk a little but the pains are like stabbing electrical pains. They are awful. The PA said to use hot heating pad and rest. It'll be about 2more weeks before the pain will stop.
Hi Madison, I'm catching up here and I know out of order but please know these stabbing pains are or appear unfortunately normal. I went out for dinner and tried to eat and now I have them again. The gas is the worst and those pains above my pubic bone when I urinate. Awful. Please hang in there. I have a very stressful job and I'm trying to not even think about it as it makes me in more pain. Hugs!

Thank you for the advice, I will try that. The stabbing pain just sends surges thru me. It's like electrodes going thru me. I know this will sound personal but have you had #2? I did Saturday, almost 5 days after surgery and it felt good but after talking to the PA today, that is what is causing my lower back pain and my sides to hurt. So she suggested MiraLAX - powder form to try and loosen me up and use a heating pad on my back and sides. She said the more I use the heating pad, the better I will feel.
Thanks again for the advice!!

Am with you on the stabbing pains. Have been feeling them where left ovary used to be, and also lower down along with an internal burning, prickly sensation. Assume it's normal & part of healing process inside. With regard to bm, am finding a cup of cooled boiled water first thing in morn helps, followed by oatmeal & then later some light activity (such as slow easy walk). Have had a few light heads first thing in morn though which are prob blood pressure related, tend to be on the low side. Hope u r feeling better soon. Take it easy x

I really feel you . my husband is good and helps but for the most part I been own my own sense day 3 as well . he had to go back to work and I have my 13 yr old daughter who has helped me , but I pretty much have had to cook meals for my self and them on occasion .Had my friends bring a few meals like 3 times pretty much on own . He is great when he is here but he has been working 7 days a week 12 and 14 hrs shifts . so I can kinda relate to you . you are not alone . Wish i had froze some meals and had it set up for a few weeks . oh well we can just keep eating sandwiches as far as I can see . my daughter can cook and make stuff for herself as well . I have taught her well I guess . thinking abt you all happy healing and take care of yoruselves !!!!!
