My LAVH was one week ago today. I feel fine from the surgery, but am frustrated. I still have not received the final pathology report(had hyst due to endometrial cancer found on endometrial biopsy). I am very emotional today, I guess because I am waiting on report.

Had a TAH June 27th - complex cyst "grapefruit" sized removed. While in hospital nose swab done and dx with colonized MRSA, which of course, has freaked me out. No antibiotics given at all. Seem to be recovering okay...had small skin outbreaks on abdomen (irritation from bandages?) used antibiotic cream, clean bandages, washed hands like crazy...and so far they are healing.

Take Tylenol for pain. It's not unbearable, but it still lets me know I've had surgery. Cooking (well, sort of - LOL) for myself now. Made the bed - very slowly. Skin super sensitive - feels like sunburn. Can now lay on side to sleep. Walk okay but somewhat slowly.

Tire easily, but expect that to eventually pass as will most other things. MRSA is the big concern for me, yet UC Davis didn't offer any help, other than to isolate me and say there was nothing I could do. Sigh. No MRSA infection but don't want to give it to others either. Will ask primary care doc about it, too.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jun 25-Jul 01,2012

Hi all - day 11 and seem to have taken a bit of a step back today. Was feeling ok until today where I've had a few sharp pains very low on my right side (LAVH kept both ovaries). Also very tired today. Anyone else suddenly get more tired rather than less? Haven't been doing much except daily walks 1or 2 times, walking around the house but no stairs, lifting, etc.

Thought I'd have more energy by now and would start to feel more normal...

Lot of pressure when I have to pee...and today I felt like I had to hold my tummy in when walking around. Very uncomfortable from the gas.

Anyone have random shooting pains occasionally?

Day 10 here and I feel ok other than when I stand up- it hurts a little. And emptying my bladder hurts a lot. No random shooting pains though ecept before gas moving down or before a poop. Don't seem to be more tired than less but definately notice a difference if I'm upright (sitting or walking) too long.

My prayers are with you Stewart. I know how it is waiting to hear back for
tests. I'm sure you are frustrated. Here's hoping all is well. Maybe they would have gotten back to you if there was concerning news by now? I know there is no rhyme or reason as to how these docs think. Take care and keep us updated!

Did they have reason to suspect to swab you when you went in? Active infection or sore? They didn't swab me that I know of??? Just wondered if it is a standard procedure at hospitals now?

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jun 25-Jul 01,2012

I'm so glad I found this site. You ladies are so generous with your sharing and it has made a difference for me to hear all your scenarios.

I had my uterus and cervix removed on June 25. Total Abdominal Hysterectomy. I was in the hospital for 3 days and been on bedrest ever since. My husband and 5 year old have been wonderful, thank goodness. I've shared lots of meals with them in bed. My daughter thinks that's pretty cool.

I am up at least once an hour to use the restroom or just move around a bit. I had a C-scetion with my daughter so I know the drill and learned my lesson on overdoing it. I am taking it very slow and feel a little better everyday.

I still have a slow digestion, no longer on pain meds. I was super nausous the first week and threw up the second day I was home, so I stopped the vicodin and have been on Ibuprophen ever since. I pulled some stitches and have a bulge on my right side because of that. That really hurt. Otherwise I am chugging along. Super jealous of you ladies that are up and about the next day after surgery, but happy for you too.

I have the pain when my bladder is being emptied, I had that the last time I had a cathetar too, so I know that will pass. Soo annoying though.

Minor constipation, but nothing I can't handle. Thanks for the oatmeal reminder.

I just walked outside for the first time since I've been home. Just took out a small bag to the recycle bin. It was surreal to be outside, but will do it with my hubby next time. I still am a little unbalanced to go that far alone.

Just wanted to introduce myself and thank you all for being so awesome and supportive to one another. This is a neat site.

One more thing...

I noticed some of you taking Tylenol, I was told many times not to take tylenol since acetominiphan (sp) is a blood thinner. I didn't want to overlook that in the event you aren't aware that it can slow the clotting process. Maybe those were just Dr's orders for me. Either way, may want to check with the nurse to make sure you can take it this soon into recovery.

My incision is healing nicely and there is no pain on the left side but my right side (the ovary they left in) is still tender inside and out. My main question/concern right now is the pain in draining my bladder- it doesn't hurt when the urine comes out- it hurts inside while it empties. Is this normal? And the smell "down there" isn't bad but it's different than before the surgery. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Hi, have had left tube & ovary removed through LAVH, post op 9 today. Both sides still get sore, like a piercing or pinching sensation at times, usually in relation to how much I'm overdoing things!
