stats on early menopause after hysterectomy?

it says that after a hysterectomy (leaving ovaries) you have a fifty percent chance of going through the menopause within 5 years, well i wondered what about after that time ? does the chance increase much or stay the same or what?
sorry its a silly question but i just wondered.
thanks

Re: stats on early menopause after hysterectomy?

Hello. I am a little over 2 years post TVH. We left my ovaries. After about 2 days I started having hot flashes right away. Then as weeks went on I started having extream irritability and depression. Then the horrible horrible headaches came. I started getting such awful headaches and I was take tylenol, Ibuprofren and excedrin so much that it ate away the lining of my stomach. I was a mess. I was so against taking HRT because I was CERTAIN that it was going to give me breast cancer. It got really really bad for me there for a few weeks. So I caved and called my doctor. He put me on premerin. The lowest dose possible. Within a week I was a new woman. I did not stay on them for long. I weaned myself off { why I have no idea} and now I have a new doctor and we are trying to find something for me. I'm not having good luck. I want to go back on the premerin. I didn't have side effects with it and I know my body tollerates it. Basically after my hysterectomy my ovaries shrivled up and died off. We had no idea at the time of surgery that would happen. I was 30 yrs old. It seemed like a good thought that they would keep working and I'd be fine for many years. Not the case. Basically what I am trying to tell you is that you will know when you need them. I had no idea the symptoms I was having were from going through menopause. I don't exactly have friends that went through menopause at 30 years old. I hope this helped....
