What to expect if I were to start HRT at a young age

Im just curious as to what I would feel like if I were to start hrt. I am 23 years old and soon having surgery to remove my right ovary and possibly the left as well along with removal of endo and possibly some intestine. I want to know what kind of side effects I would have starting hrt at my age? What kind of stuff would I need to expect knowing that I would have to be on it for a long time since im so young? Please share some stories with me ladies. Thanks

Hmmmm, I've felt pretty normal since my hysto and starting HRT. A little dryness down below, easily addressed with a lubricant during bedroom activities.

Re: What to expect if I were to start HRT at a young age

Oh, yeah, I do remember before! Not fun!

Yes, my sex drive isn't what it was when I was 30, but neither is anything else!

Sex with my husband doesn't hurt, and I do consistently have the Big O. Sometimes we need a little "marital aid" to get me there, but we get me there, and he gets there, too. I think the best part for me is that I don't hurt for one week out of three anymore.

Do I get the warm fuzzies/the teenage high? Not so much anymore, but I love my husband, and that is 90% of sex: what's between your ears is more important than what either of you have between your legs.

I'm not usually "in the mood" when he is, but by starting to act on his desire, mine follows not far behind. I promised myself that I would make a decided effort at least once a week, mostly because my work schedule was overwhelming after I got back to work. We've held to that, and occasionally get some extra "us time" during the week.

Communication with my partner helped a great deal. I needed to hear from him how often he wanted it, and he needed to hear from me that when I wasn't in the mood, it wasn't a reflection on my desire or love for him. We both set realistic expectations for ourselves, and we've been happily married for 13 years, 3 of them post-op.

Tell your sweety how much you love him. Thank him and give him that melting-eye look whenever he does any little thing for you. That kind of deliberate action on your part can help soooo much for afterward.

Thats great advice! Hes been through alot with me, on top of all my gyn issues I also have fibromyalgia, trochanteric bursitis, disc problems in my back, sciatica and chronic fatigue syndrome. I didnt think he would be able to handle all my health issues on top of our 2 wild little boys but he does great! Thank you so much for all the advice you have given me, it really helped cheer me up. You are awesome!
