Anxiety! Sometimes I feel like I'm going crazy!
Hi! I had my complete hysterectomy in Jan. of 07 and since then, I've suffered with depression and anxiety at times to my sheer breaking point. Have tried HRT before, but only for a week or so...and it made these problems worse! For the first time about a month ago, I started Estradiol .5mg once a day and have taken it every day. I take zoloft for depression and a low dose of anxiety medicine 2x a day. I've finally given HRT a chance to build up in my system and made it through the hardest mood changes and low points, I feel. Though...sometimes I still really struggle with anxiety and low patience or tolerance for bologna! If you are on HRT and still sometimes feel like you are going crazy (really, sometimes I do!), please write me and let me know I am not alone in this quiet battle for peace of mind at times! I'd really appreciate it! : ) and need some who understand what I'm going through! Hope to hear from you soon! And...don't hold back!

Me too! I get frustrated and angry a lot. Coments like "you need to get your hormone patch adjusted" or "have you put on your patch today" like I am choosing all of this and it's my fault. I feel like everyone just wants to me to walk around and take their crap and not say anything. Which I have spent all my life doing. I have always wanted to please everyone. But now I just feel like a crazy person.
I am using Vivelle Dot and Lexapro...clearly these aren't working.

ms. Honey, welcome!
It's possibly you are not absorbing the patch well. Some of us don't.
Both of you ladies sound like you're suffering with low estrogen. I know; I know. I have side effects I don't like with them as well, but you just have to decide what's ok and what isn't.
When I don't use ERT, the mental/emotional issues are my biggest complaints...not the hot flashes! They disappear quickly.
I have a friend who went through natural menoapuse and she says she isn't willing to put up with anyone's crap anymore at this age, so I guess it's not just a hyst thing. She says she likes herself better this way because she was too much of a pushover when she was younger.
Depression/anxiety is not good and if your anti-d isn't helping then you might want to try a different one or more hormones.

Wow that is good to know! Because I really feel like everyone else gets to assert their feelings but when I do I'm a *****. I feel like my hormonal issues are a scape goat for everyone else. What's their excuse?
I got my hysterectomy almost 3 months ago my Dr. Said she would start hrt a low does and go up as needed. Well I'm on the largest dose ??? When I asked her why she did that she said probably because of your age.
Are gels easier to absorb?
Thank you...you gals are a blessing!

Anxiety! Sometimes I feel like I'm going crazy!
Hello there I too have had anxiety issues, not allowed hrt, was on xanax 250 mg which is a low dose 1/2 a day in the beginning then put on 5 mgs lexapro at night for 2 weeks then on to 10 mgs its now kicking in. I go back to work Monday (16 weeks) hoping I can reduce lexapro back down in a few weeks time. My sister does energy healing she has been great. I think hysterectomy is a shock to the body. She says to wear orange it helps with the shock. I hope you all feel good soon.

Re: Anxiety! Sometimes I feel like I'm going crazy! Please respond if u've been here!
Hey,
I can relate!
I have struggled with anxiety/depression for years.
I just saw ANOTHER gynecologist this week and he is adding pogesterone to my vivelle dot regimen.
I have alternating anxiety/depression with hot flashes, but the worst is I get these heart palpitations that feel like an extra heartbeat that I feel or like my heart jumps.
Does anyone else get this?
I am driving my poor husband crazy because this comes and goes.
Sound familiar?

Oh, and I tried zoloft and then tried lexapro for a total of 20 years. They did nothing but make me gain weight and feel lethargic. And, it was awful trying to stop.
Hope we all feel better!

Yes, I get heart palps too. It really sounds like you're not absorbing the estrogen well from the patch if you're still getting hot flashes. For me anyway, that's the easiest part to fix and requires very little estrogen.

Re: Anxiety! Sometimes I feel like I'm going crazy! Please respond if u've been here!
Glad I'm not alone! Had my hysterectomy 4 months ago and just started with the depression and anxiety along with worsening menopausal symptoms a month ago. I really don't know why I'm delayed, but I'm miserable and needing some relief soon! I recently (5 days ago) changed from Enjuvia (oral) to Divigel. I am 42 and had my levels tested to see if the Enjuvia was working and my FSH was a 42 and Estrogen a -19! So, going to try the Divigel for a week and start my HRT search from here if it's not working. Have no energy, gaining weight, emotional wreck, foggy brain, face flushing, joint pain, etc. are driving me nuts. Would love to know what might be working for others!!!
