Re: Anxiety! Sometimes I feel like I'm going crazy! Please respond if u've been here!

For years before my hysterectomy, I too felt like I was going crazy. I had no cycles and was told I was in full menopause. Oh, the joy. My body was not tolerating hormones at all. The sweats and lack of sleep were one thing but my emotional state was terrible and so not like me. My poor hubby had to deal with so much. Was very disappointed at what was being offered medically for those of us struggling with emotional issues due to menopause. I tried all the latest antidepressants and I felt more crazy. My GYN wanted me to try a new antidepressant that had just been approved in January. However, as I've said before on this forum, I was not feeling the need to add Guineau pig to my growing list of menopausal symptoms. Went to my GP who guffawed at trying to give me anything to help. She thought i was trying to get narcotics. Ummm, no. I just needed help. Thank goodness for her nurse who quietly handed me a piece of paper with a nurse practitioner's name on it. I had no idea who this was but I called and it was a mental health clinic. Wow! I'm mental now! Hooray! Hahaha Finally I end up at a mental health clinic for freakin' menopause. I didn't even care. I just wanted help. First thing I told the nurse practitioner was, "I feel like I'm going crazy. And she said....wait for it....wait for it....."trust me, you're not crazy.". OH YEAH! Certifiable baby! She told me not to be afraid of the medicine she was suggesting. She said it was an old med that had a terrible stigma attached to it, but that it actually was a PMS med and you could stop it without any weaning. So... She put me on Fluoxetine (generic Prozac) 10 mg to start. For my sleep problems she gave me very few Xanax for sleep because she didn't want me to rely on that to sleep for the future. She just wanted me to get a little rest to start. But because I hate taking drugs, she told me to take a half every other night for a week and then take Melatonin, a natural sleep aid. The Fluoxetine worked! Got rid of the sweats and emotional outbursts. I had to increase the dosage to 20 mg. after a few months, but so far it's been almost a year and I feel awesome. The Melatonin took a few weeks to kick in, but once it did, sleep was awesome. I feel blessed that I ended up where somebody was actually interested in ending my hell. I guess the moral to my story is no matter what the sign on the building says, walk in. It might help you. Now, when my hubby teases me and says, "are you crazy?". I say, "no, I'm not! Certifiable baby!". I hope this helps you. Sorry it is so long. But I swore if I ever got a grip on this nightmare called EMOTIONAL CRY BABY menopause, and I learned of anyone suffering, I would spread the word. You're not crazy. Trust me, you really aren't. :-)

Peace and continued wellness to you all.

Re: Anxiety! Sometimes I feel like I'm going crazy! Please respond if u've been here!

I had my complete hyst in March 2010. I started out on the highst level of the Vivelle patch. After a year or so I noticed that I felt exhausted. I had my hormone levels checked and my E was 20. So my gyn has started me on E and T injections on a monthly basis. So far, it is ok. I am going to ask her next week when I should get labs to see if the injections are helping. I am experiencing the depression and anxiety too. My husband tells me he feels that I act irratical. I definitely feel moody. I take 20mg of Celexa daily (started that a few years ago after having horrible panic attacks) and I take 2mg of Klonopin at night to help me go to sleep. I have an inactive thyroid, have gained fourty pounds and need to have a sleep study done because they think I have sleep apnea. I feel like at 35 I have way too many health problems. My body doesn't seem to absorb patches or creams, or anything taken orally for that matter. I really hope that the injections work because if they don't I don't know what else is out there. Sometimes I really regret having this surgery. I am so thankful for this site, because until you go through it, you don't truly know what it is like. I wish all of you ladies experiencing similar problems the best.

Re: Anxiety! Sometimes I feel like I'm going crazy! Please respond if u've been here!

Hi there ladies, I also struggled with anxiety and severe depression post hysterectomy. I had my surgery in 2009 and was put on vivelle dot (patch) 6 months post op I started having these awful panic attacks so much to the point that I would constantly go to the emergency room. My doct decided to put me on effexor and change estrogen from the patch to a pill form (enjuvia) I struggled for an entire year and a half with depression and anxiety on those medications Well I can honestly say today on my hysterversary that I am stronger and feeling much better. It has been a long journey but I am writing to tell u ladies to hang in there.. Work with your doct and step out on faith. Currently I am taking Estriodal and I am no longer taking antidepressant medication Praise God!! Thru all of this I have found a inner peace and joy within myself that I did not know existed. My prayer for each and everyone of u ladies suffering with anxiety and depression is that the grace of God may give u the very same inner peace and joy I have experienced to help combat and eliminate those neg feelings for good. God Bless Nichole

I have no ovaries. TAH 6/18/12 and I have no HRT (yet). I'm anxious, nervous, panicky, to the point of feeling useless. I'm so sorry you all are going through this too, but I must say I am glad I am not alone.

Hey,
You are NOT alone. I have been having bad hot/cold flashes and bad depression. In fact, I called the drs office and he called me back. He said that he doesn't think the vivelle dot is working well.
He wants me to try using the biest cream that I have tried before again.
He wants me to use it once a day for a week then go up to 2x a week.
But, I am soooo tired of feeling bummed out and having hot/cold flashes.
