Getting ready to go to the castle Monday also. Worst part is having to "move" to my mom's for at least part of the recovery. I am probably taking way too much but want MY stuff.

Re: Best Wishes to our July 02 Princesses

Thank you so much!! I have been trying to prepare as best as possible before my Monday surgery! It almost feels like I have been nesting for about a week. (is that weird?) - anyways. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers and I am also praying for all others who have upcoming surgery.

Re: Best Wishes to our July 02 Princesses

The best thing I did was after my Two week post op appointment was to go to my mom's home. She was here to help for 4 days when I came home from the hospital and she took my 12 year old son home with her when she left. After being at my mom's for one full week, I was fantastic except for my emotions of wanting to move back in with her and to the life of luxury I am 37 years old and after a week of staying in her home and being waited on and sleeping til noon and eating her wonderful cooking and being doted on and my feet rubbed every night, with homemade cookies and milk at midnight. I cried like a baby when I left. My 17 year old daughter drove the hour and a half to pick me up, along with all my laundry I took (which my mother not only folded she ironed everything.) I did not want to come home (I did miss my husband and missed my daughter terribly but something about leaving my mom's was the same emotions I felt when my mom left me after staying with me when I had my two babies. (Now 12 and 17) very overwhelmed like I can't be in charge who will do the laundry and fix meals etc. My husband felt so bad when I had emotional outbursts that I wanted to move in with my mother for the rest of the summer. (who wouldn't after the foot rubs and cookies and milk at midnight???) but one can't live like that forever and now 2 weeks later I actually am back in charge doing laundry, light grocery shopping, and even cooked my first meal for the family.
I am so happy you are going to your mom's home after the castle take full advantage and do not leave until you truly feel you are ready. When you get home, rest is still the main ingredient in getting better. Even if you feel fantastic.
Good luck my prayers are with you.
One last bit of advice: I have found that the disposal underwear they have you wear in the hospital, are very stretchy and can be washed, (remembered from last baby 12 yrs ago) I asked the nurses that were assisting me and they gave me about 10 extra pair. I am still wearing them because of swelly belly and they keep my pad in place for the discharge. They are made of like netting so I wear my husbands boxers over them or my big grannie panties.
Hope this helps.
Hugs

Re: Best Wishes to our July 02 Princesses

Thanks! I don't know if I will get the cookies at midnight, but I know I will be well taken care of.

The one thing I have taken away from this site so far is listen to your body, not what other people want you to do.
