Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jul 02-Jul 08,2012

If your hysterectomy was between Jul 02-Jul 08,2012 this is the place to post your progress during your hysterectomy recovery.

If you have a question about your recovery, please start a new thread to receive answers and support for your concerns instead of including the question in your update! There is information on how to start a new thread in this link: New Here? or you can use this link: Post a New Topic in the Post-Op forum.

Post how you are doing here when you are home and well enough to sit a few minutes at your computer.

We hope you are recovering well with plenty of rest and water and a bit of walking. Don't forget to pamper the princess!

How to use the Recovery Progress Reports thread:

  • 1. This thread is for the purpose of sharing updates on your recovery as you heal from your hysterectomy.

  • 2. Generally, ONE or TWO posts on this thread per member/per day is adequate to share your daily progress and to share encouragement with your surgery week Sisters.

  • 3. Remember to start a new thread on the Post-Op message board to ask your questions.

  • 4. The Progress Report threads will be moved at approximately 8 weeks post-op to the Date Club forum inside the HysterSisters clubhouse.

  • 5. Remember all the love and support you got here as a pre-op member? Now it's YOUR turn to give back to the women in the Pre-Op Hysterectomy Support forum. Extend your hand and your hugs in replies to our pre-op ladies in waiting. This will complete our circle of women helping women!

  • 6. You can also share support and experiences with post-op members in all phases of recovery in the Post-Op Hysterectomy Support forum by replying on the new threads they create.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jul 02-Jul 08,2012

new Princesses! Welcome to your Recovery Thread!!

You have made it to the other side and it's now time to

This thread has been set up for you to update your progress during your initial recovery and hopefully share with and support other ladies that are going through recovery at the same time as you.

I have been assigned to your Recovery Thread as your Sunshine Sister. I am so excited to be able to support you through this journey! I will be checking in with you each day to help answer any questions that I can, point you in different directions on the site, and sometimes just hand out hugs.

I found my way to HysterSisters right around my second week post-op and it was a true lifesaver for me. I thought I was literally going crazy before coming here. I found so much support from everyone on the site, but especially from the sisters on my Recovery Thread, I hope that you do as well.

I also found it extremely helpful to get perspectives from sisters that were further along in their recovery or who could relate to my unique situations. The Post-Op Forum is one of the best places to ask any and every question. I also found tremendous support by visiting and posting on the Aching Hearts and Endometriosis Forums. Be sure to check out the alternative Forums to see if any relate specifically to you.

I'm sure that in the weeks to come you will have lots of questions and be wondering if how you're feeling is "normal".

Many women have questions about gas pains and concerns. You may notice that you have a swelly belly or strange things happening with your emotions.

Most of these things are normal, but remember that your is always the best person to call if you are concerned about anything during your recovery.

Here are a few tips to get you started...

Drink LOTS of water.
when you can.
Don't try to be

Please take it slow the first few weeks of recovery. You only get one chance to heal properly and this is it. Your initial recovery will take between 2-8 weeks, with full recovery taking up to a year for some; so this is going to be a process, but the end result will be a happier, healthier you!!

I made it through the surgery. I was told by my DH that in addition to the fibroids she expected to find that she also surprisingly found endometriosis. Guess I need to look into that. Waiting to hear from Doc tonigjt. Still at the castle with pain meds. I took a walk around the floor. It felt good to get up and move. Looking forward to hearing about other princesses this week. Best wishes to us all for a speedy recovery.

I'm home! DH has me settled into a cozy corner of the bedroom. Soooo glad I had the mini pillow pet to cushion my tummy from the seat belt on the ride home. Welcome to the others coming to this side.

My pillow pet has come in handy too! I didn't need much of the stuff I brought to the hospital, but ipod and pillow pet have been sanity savers.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jul 02-Jul 08,2012

Just got home! Dealing with lots of pain at the moment but hoping it will soon subside. Dr was pleased with the surgery and got all of the Endo he feels (even went into my bladder to check things out) I was able to keep one ovary but uterus, cervix, and tubes gone.

Hope all of you are doing well....my thoughts are with all of you for a gentle recovery

I've been home for about 3 hours now. We have one of those electric reclining chairs that also slowly tips forward to help you get up. That is helping a lot. They sent me home with prescription Motrin and Norco which I do need right now for the pain.

I had a dVh, with right ovary removed. Waiting on diagnosis for adenomyosis, but the Dr. said it may have had a fibroid too.

Wishing all my sisters a smooth healing journey!
