Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jul 02-Jul 08,2012
@faithmover. I was about to post my frustrated day and i think it might help your question. I am 3 weeks 4 days post op and i too kept my ovaries. I had adenomyosis, endo, chronic cervicitis and large fibroids. on the 18th i went to the doctor with severe pain and after an ultrasound he found a cyst on my ovary. I was so upset and frustrated and wondered if i made the right decision by leaving my ovaries. Well, according to the doctor and nurse it is very common to have cyst around ovulation period even though we no longer have them. ughhhhhhh!! so i dealt with the pain for a few days taking pain pills on and off. Until today, my pain got so bad and my doctor is on vacation so they sent me back to the hospital. They did another ultrasound and my cyst was not bigger but had barely shrunk. so it can be the cause of my cramping and back pain. The doctor said that she believes is a combination of the cyst and me not keeping up with my meds. today would of been the first day of my period so i am starting to believe that it is normal. But my worst fear or concern is that endometriosis got to my ovaries. I have decided not to worry and take my pain meds as prescribed for one more week and hope for the best. According to many sisters here we are all different on recovery time and pain meds intake. I do not want to hurt anymore so I will submit to pain pills for a full week and try their theory. If anyone have insights on this please share.

@ faithmover. Two weeks ago when I was regreting the same thing a friend of mine told me " at least you are not on hormone therapy" . The truth is it's over now we kept our ovaries so we just have to educate ourself and still keep a journal of pains. You sound like my twin and thank you soooo much for sharing. I wonder if we went to work full time to soon. last week i went part time and i was ok. not this week ): but then again today would be the first day of my period. But like my grandma always says "This too shall come to pass" . Hope we feel better soon.
Hugs and blessings

lovely ladies and to our new sisters!!!!
It's wonderful to see a few new names on your thread of support and recovery!
If you are new to the site, please take some time to check out the resources available. There are checkpoints located at the top left hand corner of the site or you can click here . There are also lots of forums that you can post on to get support as well as support other women who may have similar experiences. The Post-Op Forum is the best place to ask any and every .
I've noticed that many of you are wondering about your rainbow of emotions right now.
It is very normal to have some grieving after your hysterectomy. I all the time during my initial recovery. Also your hormones can be all over the place for the first month or two. Please do keep your informed along the way, but in my experience it did get better with time.
I bought myself the best style tissue I could find and visited the Aching Hearts Forum often.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jul 02-Jul 08,2012
I went driving and shopping today by myself for the first time today since my LAVH 4 weeks ago. It went pretty well. My only issue driving was backing out of the drive way or parking places. My belly wasnt too happy about twisting to look over my shoulder.
Its funny how I will feel perfectly normal until i do something like load the groceries into the car and unload them and carry them in to the house. I was careful to not carry to much at one time, nothing heavier the a gallon of milk or two. Lots of trips back and fourth though. After I had put everything away I decided to lay down for a minute and get off of my feet. Well that minute turned into a 4 hour nap
My family was surprised that I slept so long since I don't usually take naps. I don't think that they truly understand how exhausting a little shopping can be after surgery. I look like I should feel normal after all it has been 4 weeks!
I quit my job as a day care teacher to recover at my own pace and I am so glad that I did. I don't think that I would be able to make it through the day. I just get so tired. I admire those of you that have already gone back to work. What strong women you are. I hope that you are able to take it easy. ......wow I feel like I could go back to sleep......

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jul 02-Jul 08,2012
Good morning, sisters!
Not feeling as good today - lots of pressure down in the pelvic area if I sit for too long. I was doing well with this until today - I guess everything is just healing down there - I was planning to work at my desk for several hours today, but right now I am most comfortable lying on the sofa with my feet elevated.
Stressful conversation yesterday with a soon-to-be-former client - then church last night where I served on the prayer team. I have not lifted anything I shouldn't have. I did not walk yesterday due to an early meeting with a client - but I'm comfortably up to 2.5 miles at almost my pre-surgery pace - so maybe today is just one of those days at the bottom of the cycle and not at the top!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jul 02-Jul 08,2012
Hello Ladies! I am new to this site and I am finding it very helpful...I am 4 weeks post op and doing well! My surgery did NOT go as planned! I had a TAH/BSO and bladder tuck on 7/3/12. I lost almost 3 pints of blood and was in the hospital for 6 days!!! However, within hours of surgery I was up walking the halls of the hospital! I came home and thought "WOW, this doesnt hurt like they said it would"! LOL Then the numbness started to wear off( I was lucky enough to have an epidural while in the hospital). Oh then the pain set in, but I refused to surrender to it. I got up and have walked every morning and every evening since I have been home...LOST 12.5 pounds!! Now, I just have to fight off the hot flashes and night sweats! I refuse to take HRT because of history of cancer with me and other family members! But I can honestly say I feel better than I have in years! Having this surgery was the best thing I have ever done! Thank you for this wonderful support you offer on here!! Best of luck to everyone else!!!

I know that many of you are bored as you continue to pamper yourselves, rest, and recover. Here's a link that tells you how HS is celebrating it's birthday. There's also a quiz that you can take that I found was lots of fun. Hopefully it'll help you pass some time and get to know the site a little bit better.
Enjoy your evening ladies!!!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jul 02-Jul 08,2012
Hello Ladies, going into week 4, and I've noticed that the last couple of days I'm feeling very tired and just can't get enough sleep. It's strange cause for the last two weeks I've had to remind self that I was recovering from a major surgery so as not to over do! The gas pain comes and go but thank God it's never been as bad as it was on day 4 that brought me to tears and feeling like I couldn't breathe. I had been taking gas x, stool softner from day 1, well day 4 it all came to a head. I finally took an alka seltzer and oh boy what a relief it was, not only did I pass the gas but had my first major BM. (Don't do w/o talking to your Doctor) I went in to see my Dr on day 6 and boy was that uncomfortable! Went back day 10 because of foul odor and discharge, was told that it was yeast and not to worry. She cleaned me and sent me home with Rx. Although the odor was gone a few days later I still had discharge, today I noticed that there was a lot less on the pads, YAY! Other than being tired I'm feeling great and can't wait til get out and start living again! Oh yeah I was worried pre surgery of what my sex life would be like afterward, although no physical contact yet I've been having some pretty strong feelings of desire!
