I can relate to being sick of seeing the doctor, but if you need to...do it. It's always better to be a little inconvenienced than have something worse escalate. You know your body best...just listen to it.

Today is my 5 week post op and after having a 10 hr surgery, lost blood, punctured bladder, had blood transfution and having the catherer for 4 weeks...I would say week 5 was my toughest week...after cath was removed I had horrible buring pains, urine retention and a trip to ER because I wasn't emptying bladder completely only to have cath back in (btw I was tkng antibiotic for UTI during all this) went to urologist day after ER trip and he removed cath and said that besides having infection my bladder needed to be retrained since I had cath for so long but I had to catherize myself so I can empty bladder UGH!!! Painful all the time! Yesterday I got a call from internal med dr an she said I have 2 bacterias and needed to get another antibiotic plus she gave me two injections of Rocephin...now am taking cipro and keflex, I still cannot fully empty bladder but is less painful than last wknd and i can void a lil bit more....I really hope this is gonna get better! Week 6 here I come!! Please b good to me :'(

I had my total hysterectomy on 7/3 and other than a UTI have had no real issues. However today I feel very weepy and sad...just like pre-surgery when I would have PMS. I am on Estradiol daily. Is it possible to have PMSeven after surgery?

Good afternoon, hystersisters. I had my 5 week check up with my doctor. I am doing well. Stitches are still not dissolved. I have more energy, but still feel pulling and pain sometimes in my bellybutton and where my uterus used to be. I am still bloated and don't like to wear tighter clothing. I thought it was weird that I had PMS symptoms the other day. Doctor said that was normal. He also said to tell my family anything I wanted about lifting things and what I am able to do now. Lol. I love it. I like having my kids carry everything for me. I think I will milk it a little bit longer.

I love reading everyone's progress reports. It sure helps me feel so not alone. I am very thankful for everyone's advice and stories.

Good afternoon, ladies....Today is 5 weeks and one day of recovery for me!!!! I saw my doctor yesterday and she released me from surgical care...YIPEE....She said that I had no internal swelling left and that my vaginal cuff had healed very well...I still have a little bit of spasming when I urinate but much less than before...Today I went to a back to school workshop for teachers who work with the same population of students as I...It was great to see everyone again, but I had a rather severe visit from the Energy Ninja right after lunch so I left the meeting to go home and rest...I feel so grateful that I have the time to ease back into the "school" routine...I also feel so grateful for all the persons who have helped me in my healing process and continue to do so...I am grateful that each of you has been sharing your stories through this wonderful website...It has made this process so much better.....Enjoy your weekend and continue taking care of yourselves....

Those Energy Ninjas are dangerous! I have been back to work for 2 weeks, and they hit at random times. I think our weird heat and such doesn't help.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jul 02-Jul 08,2012

Hello again everyone
I still find it fascinating checking in on here to find just how differently ladies are recovering.
I am going to see my GP on Monday to see if she can check my progress as we have a holiday booked for next Friday. I feel ready to go back to work now on a part time basis but need them to ok that. I also would like to know how my internal healing is as I don't think I can wait any longer for intimate part of my relationship to return as its been so long. Pre-op, sex was just too painful for me and my relationship has been suffering because of it.
I still get a little bit of pain when I go to the toilet but I think this is temporary and not worrying too much.
My swelling shows no signs of going just yet and my tummy can feel tender to the touch. I am hoping this gets better with time as most of my wardrobe is very uncomfortable to wear.
I am walking up to 2.5 miles a day now which I am pleased with and want to start cycling, swimming and rambling when I am able to do so.
Before my op I never really did anything to keep fit but as I stopped smoking and really don't want to put weight on, I am now so eager to get started on some sort of regime ( it may also have a little to do with the Olympics being here in the UK and inspiring me) :-)
Emotionally, I am so bored and frustrated that I am getting on my own nerves moaning and complaining. So this is making me feel very down and I am missing being at work where I am constantly busy and feel useful. Right now, I feel useless here.
I am sure that all of this is normal and that I am doing ok but sometimes you just need that assurance from your hystersisters.
Sorry for the rambling but thank you for reading.
Take care ladies x x x x

Ureter stents out yesterday. Didn't hurt- just very uncomfortable. After a good night sleep I feel like I am going to have a good recovery for the remaining few week. Still have a sore and swollen tummy and get tired by days end. But, now swelling and soreness are all I have to work on. That awful mistake by the Dr who severed my ureters is behind me (CAT scan in 6 months- but it should be ok). I am a happy girl today!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jul 02-Jul 08,2012

Hello sisters. Well I am 2 days short of 6 weeks of recovery. Doing pretty good. I went back to work after 2 weeks and that was a major struggle but necessary financially :-(. I am still having trouble with getting extremely sleepy around 3 in the afternoon and have been having deep pains where my ovaries are an all across my lower back. I go in on Wednesday for my 6 week post op. I haven't taken any pain meds in 2 weeks other than ibprophen. But I have been tempted... I haven't seen and discharge or stitches yet. I have been having awful headaches for the last week or so not sure if it is a side affect or maybe its just from being tired. Overall I think I am doing pretty good though. My spirits are up other than every now and then I think no more babies and get sad then I am ok.

Glad to have all of your updates to read they sure help! I will give a shout out and let y'all know how my dr visit goes.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jul 02-Jul 08,2012

Although DR has not officially cleared me to go back to work (I'm director of a private school early childhood program), today was our pre-k parent orientation and health screenings. Only 2 hours in the morning and I wanted to be there. Many of these are new families and since school starts Aug 20 and my assistant director will be out on maternity leave soon, I felt it was important for me to meet everyone.

After 6 weeks of wearing nothing but yoga pants and baggy shorts with flipflops - I wore "professional" attire, including heels. ONly 2 hours of standing and walking (plus a stop at the grocery store on the way home) I am exhausted and hurting!!

All my "school" shoes are heels -- hope my body adjusts back quick. I dont' have $$ for a new shoe wardrobe
